Well, many of my favorites wouldn't be considered "best" of that era (e.g. I have fond memories of movies like "Popeye", "Clash of the Titans" and "Death on the Nile", which had relatively little critical acclaim).

For a long block of years, I usually associated a specific year with the BIG movie that I saw:

1976--Close Encounters of the Third Kind
1977--Star Wars
1978 & 79--??? (more memories of TV, specifically "Mork and Mindy"wink
1980--The Empire Strikes Back
1981--Raiders of the Lost Ark
1982--E.T.
1983--Return of the Jedi
1984--Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom
1985--Back to the Future

Hey everyone,

My husband & I are moving to our first house, and I was packing up a whole bunch of stuff we had packed away, when I came across a load of movies I used to watch as a kid. Man, those are memories! I was wondering if anyone had seen these, or remembers others, as I'm pretty sure I've seen more than what is on this list, but I don't have that kind of memory! I put them in order of my preference!

Without a doubt Transformers: The Movie. Oh man if only they had had dvd's back then I would still have my first copy of it(I have it on dvd now, along with the whole television series), but I wore out the tape watching it and rewinding it. A lot. Shit I must have watched it over 100 times per year for several years(a conservative estimate considering I recall watching it 2-3 times per day and was probably 12 before I stopped watching it atleast 3 times per week). Also I was about 12 or 13 before I could get through it without crying when Prime died. I still hate hot rod(doesn't deserve caps) for murdering Optimus! what kind of justice is that? hot rod became rodimus prime and took Optimus Prime's place? The TV series went to hell because the new leader of the Autobots was queer(see "flaming decals", and "so bad that they needed to invent a bullshit story to allow the return of Optimus Prime in a futile attempt to save the franchise"wink. Grrrrr. Sorry everyone I am very passionate about this one topic(obviously). T2: Judgment Day is a distant(see "intergalactic"wink second favorite.

Cinemaddiction
The Transformers movie was where I first heard the word "shit". I have to thank Spike for that.

Thanks, homey.
