CorderaMitchell
In my opinon the best RPG ever, the first and second one!!

How do you guys feel? Happy Dance

Darth_Otaku
I still like FF7 the most...Or The Diablo duo.(LOL)
I liked Baldur's Gate 2: Dark Alliance...

CorderaMitchell
What about the comp game, that was where the best of it was at, despite the learinig curve of it.

Darth_Otaku
I only played Dark Alliance for PS2.

CorderaMitchell
Oh, you must play the real PC one sometime friend.

RaventheOnly
Dark Allaince was good no doubt big grin ....but BG original, shadow of Amn and the throne of Bhaal were by far the best RPGs of there time big grin

CorderaMitchell
yes, go for the eyes boo!1

What were your favorite items?

Carsormyr, Lilarcor, Black Razor, Shuruppak's Full Plate Armor, Boots of haste.......and a crapload more.....i haven't played the games in ages...

~wickerman~

CorderaMitchell
Ravager 6, Carsomyr6, Axe of the Unyielding 5, boots of speed, amongst others.

Question on the boots of haste. What do they do and where do you find them?

well....crap....you find them in a lot of places. One of them is when you follow Haer'dalis to that astral prison he's taken to. Can't remember where else you find them. They're awesome little boots big grin
Your characters move a lot faster, you get an extra attack per round (one more attack each 6 seconds) etc. etc. Just like casting Haste on them. you CAN cast Haste on them too, but they won't move twice as fast, it'll just make them fatigued sad

CorderaMitchell
I have the boots of speed, and like several hastes from items such as the ring of gaxx, so I don't think I'm that concerned.

Did you ever get all the pantaloons, and get that super item?

vaya_the_elf
I think it's cool, but not the best rpg

CorderaMitchell
I think so, what do you see as the best then??

Almost...but you have to have the Iron pantaloons from BG1 though. And it's not really THAT awesome. I'll take Shurrupak's plate anyday over the Golem Armor you receive

~wickerman~

CorderaMitchell
Is that what it is, I thought it let you transform?

Shuruppak was great, because of fire resistance and the dex bonus. But in terms of AC, the cold dragon armor was, even a thief and barbarian could wield it.

Yeah, the white dragon armor was best in AC terms....but Shuruppak had style baby....he was p1mpin pimp

Well it makes you look like a golem, and i think you also can't be hurt by normal weapons or something....i'm not sure, like i said, it was a long time ago sad

~wickerman~

CorderaMitchell
I like the blue thunder dragon armor in terms of looks.

Also the thorn armor, I go for style now, the lowest AC is -26, and I passed that after winning so many times and beating the game and visitin Lum the Mad.

Wasnt' it a alarge golem though?

Yes, the blue dragon armor is indeed pimpin thumb up but it's crap AC wise. Errm...can't remember. I think it made you look like a very large golem (like Iron) but it had a lot of handicaps, including not being able to receive friendly spells and other stuff (i think). All in all, you don't really need it.

CorderaMitchell
I didn't think so, my class was fine.

How'd you feel about the Crom Faeyr and the Water Halbred(can't remember the name).

Did you ever kill drizzt in BG1, and how did you do it?

Crom Faeyr kicked ass droolio but i still liked the flail of ages with ALL additions better .......dunno why........as for Drizzt, i don't remember, but i remember i killed him, just not how. I think Edwin had the winning blow though......like i said, i can barely remember BG2 properly, and BG1 was a while before...

CorderaMitchell
Flail of ages +5 rocked on its own words, the free movement, slowing and extra damage, it wasn't hard to do 40 damage without a critical hit. It was also good against trolls and other low damage takers.(adamantine)

I haven't played BG2 in a while either, my floppy won't get the characters to my computer that I'd saved as a backup, any suggestions?

Indeed. FoA +5 kicked ass. Hmmmmm......depends if you saved them properly on your floppy. I made an entire folder as backup and put it on a cd. I could send you some of my saves stick out tongue

~wickerman~

CorderaMitchell
I guess, but what if I sent you some of my saves on the floppy, and you saved them properly for me?

Can't. I don;t have the game anymore, remember? already told you sad
As for sending you my saves, scratch that idea too. I think the CD with them is underneath a pyle of CDs/clothes sad

And i'm too damn lazy....just start the game over again

~wickerman~

CorderaMitchell
No thats not what I meant, like resave my files so that they open up better, I may have saved it under the wrong thing.

from what i recall each save has its own mini-folder with 3 documents in it.......if you only saved ONE of the three, it'll never work.

I haven't been at home, been busy.

Dagons Blade
Oh yeah good old Minsk and his Might Berseker Rat, Boo.

Every time you went to pick up Boo, you heard this "squeak!" and it was friggin' hysterical. This was the first D&D PC game for me, and I loved it. Just this week I finished Icewind Dale and started over with the Heart Of Winter expansion with an exported party with all their nice weapons they earned in the main game....

How I love the Axe Of Caged souls- +5 to cadaverous undead (zombies, ghouls, ect.) Not hard to do a double damage with a high level fighter or ranger. You will NEED this for the H.O.W. expansion pack.

The Restored Blade Of Aihonen- VERY nice weapon. Needed to kill the final boss in Icewind Dale's main game. Does nicely elsewhere too.

Otiluke's Robe-gives any magic user a strength of 18 for melee combat.

Some general weapons but there are so many more to play with.

OH, and let's not forget the Messenger Of Seth-a nice longbow that shoots 5 arrows per round. NICE weapon if you have Arrows Of Piercing. hehehe smile

CorderaMitchell
I haven't played Icewind Dale, I hear its an inferior version of the same thing.

Bicnarok

CorderaMitchell
Baldur's gate, but there is a LARGE learning curve.

I got it alright....

OFF TOPIC....... I played (and beat) both of them and i enjoyed them...

Does anyone, i repeat ANYONE know anything about a possible 3 on the consoles?

CorderaMitchell
no clue, it isn't impossible to learn, but some would go nuts though.

Dagons Blade

Not necessarily, the story is a bit more involved, and covers Easthaven and Kuldahar, which I believe were briefly mentioned in Baldur's Gate 1 and 2. It has it's own spots of interest and it stands on it's own nicely.

Durlag's Tower in BG was nasty, but wait till you get to the Elven fortess of the Severed Hand...you'll LOVE the traps and monsters in that one. And you get some decent magic weapons and potions too.

There's also one place where the entire cave complex is filled with Lizardmen and a HUGE chieftain who does some serious damage. You'll find your party running out of the cave and resting and healing a few times to take this guy down. And it leads to a cult of evil priests and ultimately a HUGE Yuan Ti named Yuxonemei, whome you get the Messenger Of Seth from. Having a bow that shoots 5 arrows in one round is a NICE weapon.

The Vale Of Shadows-nothing but undead. And a nice haul of weapons and armor and a cool character named Kresselack The Black Wolf.

Before you knock it, give it a try. Heck it takes a shorter time to beat than Morrowind wink

CorderaMitchell
O I wouldn't say it was bad, it seemed like a nice alternative.

Nephthys
Bioware has recently announced the details for their shitty glorified mod Baldur's Gate Enhanced Edition which they are charging $20 for.

New features include 3 new characters:

The Blackguard Dorn II-Khan

Neera the Wild Mage

Rasaad yn Bashir the Monk

All of which are romancable, obviously. smile

As well as a new adventure called the Black Pits. But unfortunately the source art assets for Baldur's Gate, Baldur's Gate: Shadows of Amn and Throne of Bhaal are lost, so the game will not be able to be remade in HD or do anything at higher resolutions.

Apparantly 'enhanced' means 'really blurry.'

Discuss.

Lek Kuen
Bioware isn't making it last I checked.

Nephthys
Gah, right, its Overhaul Games. Right right, sorry. Ok, that calms me down a little.

NemeBro
Shhh! Don't spoil Nephthys's ignorant hate-slinging for him man.

Nephthys
The nerd-rage overtook me briefly, true.

00_copies.html

So apparently, if the EE sells at least 200,000 units, there will possibly be a Baldur's Gate 3

And since it's headed by Overhaul Games, not Bioware, all you little hipsters need not worry your silly little heads. It's even got some old Bioware guys on it apparently!

Nephthys
God damn it.

Now I have to buy it. sad
