If it was ran by more woman, it could be much better. big grin ..I think most men are more power hungry, wanting dominance of other countries, ...Most women understand the rhythms of life and are able to go with the flow...Men want to push , pull, resist, direct the flow..Women experience it....then mold with it to produce harmony........When you learn that might is not right that strength is not power over, but power with; that absolute power demands of theirs absolutely nothing then maybe we'd have some peace in this world.....I don't mean to generalize here.....Just an observation.

BobbyD
Yes, it could and would, Deb. However, not to knock women in public office, because I do feel we need more of them to create balance. The general consensus about why women do not make good candidates for public office is because their emotions are too closely tied to their decision making....from trivial matters to the most complex, in everyday life let alone politics. And thus, it's is difficult to separate these two in very tense situations, even for the most hardened and experienced of men in office. I know I'm using a very wide paintbrush" when I am stating, but the generality is true. It's not a bad thing, it is what it is. Now for all you people out there who think I'm woman bashing, noticed earlier I said we do have a need for more women in public office so that we can have balance in these critical decision making positions.

Clovie
considering the fact that it exists since yesterday or something like that, I would refrain from judging it erm

Syren
Both Debs and Bobby present good points, and that's just the problem.. we need governments of equal measure, the men for the hard hitting decision making and the women for the more spiritual, humane solutions. This thread is so generalised, I expect to be slammed for saying this roll eyes (sarcastic) But anyway, surely we're bordering on a discussion about a 'Government Utopia' here?? It's not perfect, it never can be, and in answer to the initial question, I think the British government have a hell of a lot to answer for. But my views have altered slightly over the last few years. I once thought Blair was a blustering, moronic, ignorant, weak fool. I now just think he's a fool...

You're from the states, right?

Belgian government isn't too bad (too many liberal idea's tho)
The flemish government is one I have more faith in at the moment (tho still too many liberals)

StyleTime
I give mine a five. I say this because I still believe in the way my country's government is set up, BUT the powers that be aren't doing a great job. They're not even doing an average job. I fear it's only going to get worse until the next administration comes to power.

I honestly think our forefathers would be quite disappointed with the current America. This is not the country that they fought to create.

I've thought that also.

What kind of liberal ideas do you disagree with?

Alpha Centauri
A) Don't quote Eminem in a political thread. The man is just an anti-Bush bandwagon rider.

B) With regards to my government: Could be better. Could be worse. Either way I can do nothing about it so I don't really let it bother me that much.

My State Government:

We could get rid of some laws and increase police force. Aside from that, I rated them at 7

My Federal Goverment:

Tax cuts, increase fundings for education, and more laws agaisn't federal crimes. I rate them also a nice 7.

skiiboyz342
all of ur answers are very valid!!!!
what i think of my gov's is to agree with styletime they have a good system it's just all the power they give to others. They say wehave people opion but yet they don't think we are right when we try to fight for abortion!!!!
their being messed up b/c of the press. all i have to say is they all need a major check up with someone or something that is way out of their area of expertes!!!!

I live in Australia - we currently have the "Liberal" Government in, which is ironic as the Liberal party is actually the conservative party.

Personally I really don't like it.

John Howard and his cronies have lied constantly, and angered everyone, but for some unfathomable reason when an election roles around he gets voted back in. It is incredibly frustrating.

He has been really subservient with Bush and the U.S., has let higher education funding slip, and gives more money to private schools while government schools which the majority of kids use flounder, wants to criminalise gay marriages and amend laws to insure that a gay person will never have the right to marry in Australia ever, is allowing the mining of natural gas and other resources that by rights should belong to East Timor, which actually needs it, is making a mockery of our parliamentary system as since he has gained a majority in the upper and lower house no one can oppose him so he tries to force laws through in less then a day so nobody can study them or protest, their drafting reactionary anti-terrorism laws and Industrial reform which looks set to be detrimental to Australian workers....

Gahhhhh!!! So many lies, so many broken promises. So frustrating. But the mob is stupid, so despite the fact he's ticked everybody of again by the time the next election comes he'll have bribed the masses with tax insignificant tax cuts again.

I'm going to take mine to the local level. Currently, we are in a drought. Okay, that's fine and I understand that, but lately it seems that my city government is more obssessed with finding criminals who are watering their grass at 7:05 am instead of 6:45 am than they are any other problem (and there are many) that's going on.

They are upping the fine for "repeat offenders (kind of a harsh term, eh?)" to $1000!

skiiboyz342
that is a very valid point!!!!!
my gov's are going off the deep end!!!
thye try to cover eachothers ass' but then when one of them gets caught they blame it on one of their own guys!!!! to me my gov's have their heads to far up their ass' to realize that it's b/c of them all this is happening!!!!!!

Well tons like: tax reduction (it's unnecessairy, except for tax reductions on the side of the employer, they have to pay way too much money to employ people), idea's that favor the rich over the poor (like tax reduction, giving people money if they do their taxes online and so on)
and countless others which I can't think of ATM. Mind you with liberal ideas I ment economic liberalistic idea's

A woman, yes.

She might win in the next voting too.

Canada i give them a 5
The liberal party stole 200 million dollars from taxpayers however still are popular with a 6-8 point lead in polls and still The opposition wants to call an election. (idiots)The liberals may waste money however Canada has had a very health economy over The years and Canada is one of The few Western countries with a surplus (Large) . Also they are very good on social issues(gay rights, minorities). THey are much better then Conservatives who look like they will surly send The country into debt because they say cut taxes and increase spending because they say they would not privatize health care. They are just as big liars as everyone.

I would like to see more spending on the army and to slowly pay of the debt.
