If it was ran by more woman, it could be much better. big grin ..I think most men are more power hungry, wanting dominance of other countries, ...Most women understand the rhythms of life and are able to go with the flow...Men want to push , pull, resist, direct the flow..Women experience it....then mold with it to produce harmony........When you learn that might is not right that strength is not power over, but power with; that absolute power demands of theirs absolutely nothing then maybe we'd have some peace in this world.....I don't mean to generalize here.....Just an observation.

Yes, it could and would, Deb. However, not to knock women in public office, because I do feel we need more of them to create balance. The general consensus about why women do not make good candidates for public office is because their emotions are too closely tied to their decision making....from trivial matters to the most complex, in everyday life let alone politics. And thus, it's is difficult to separate these two in very tense situations, even for the most hardened and experienced of men in office. I know I'm using a very wide paintbrush" when I am stating, but the generality is true. It's not a bad thing, it is what it is. Now for all you people out there who think I'm woman bashing, noticed earlier I said we do have a need for more women in public office so that we can have balance in these critical decision making positions.

Both Debs and Bobby present good points, and that's just the problem.. we need governments of equal measure, the men for the hard hitting decision making and the women for the more spiritual, humane solutions. This thread is so generalised, I expect to be slammed for saying this roll eyes (sarcastic) But anyway, surely we're bordering on a discussion about a 'Government Utopia' here?? It's not perfect, it never can be, and in answer to the initial question, I think the British government have a hell of a lot to answer for. But my views have altered slightly over the last few years. I once thought Blair was a blustering, moronic, ignorant, weak fool. I now just think he's a fool...

Presidential race is going here at Finland...

My goverment is fine.

quote:
Finland has a highly industrialised, largely free-market economy, with per capita output roughly that of the UK, France, or Italy. The Finnish standard of living is high. Its key economic sector is manufacturing - principally the wood, metals, engineering, telecommunications (especially Nokia), and electronics industries. Trade is important, with exports equalling almost one-third of GDP. Except for timber and several minerals, Finland depends on imports of raw materials, energy, and some components for manufactured goods.

Because of the climate, agricultural development is limited to maintaining self-sufficiency in basic products. Forestry, an important export earner, provides a secondary occupation for the rural population. Rapidly increasing integration with Western Europe - Finland was one of the 11 countries joining the euro monetary system (EMU) on January 1, 1999 - will dominate the economic picture over the next several years. Growth was anaemic in 2002 but slowed down in 2003 because of global depression.

According to Transparency International, Finland has the second lowest level of corruption in all the countries studied in their survey. (Finland had topped the list of least corruption for several years, but Iceland took the best ranking in 2005.) Finland has been declared the most competitive country in the world for three consecutive years 2003-2005 (four times in the last five years) by the World Economic Forum. [1

I think the chilean goverment's great when it comes to international affairs.. however even though my president's a socialist it's still too conservative for my taste... well it is south america...

I give mine a five. I say this because I still believe in the way my country's government is set up, BUT the powers that be aren't doing a great job. They're not even doing an average job. I fear it's only going to get worse until the next administration comes to power.

I honestly think our forefathers would be quite disappointed with the current America. This is not the country that they fought to create.

I've thought that also.

What kind of liberal ideas do you disagree with?

A) Don't quote Eminem in a political thread. The man is just an anti-Bush bandwagon rider.

B) With regards to my government: Could be better. Could be worse. Either way I can do nothing about it so I don't really let it bother me that much.

My State Government:

We could get rid of some laws and increase police force. Aside from that, I rated them at 7

My Federal Goverment:

Tax cuts, increase fundings for education, and more laws agaisn't federal crimes. I rate them also a nice 7.
