Respect Death’s Head, Yes?

Death’s Head is the wise-cracking “Freelance Peacekeeping Agent” (see: Bounty Hunter) from Marvel UK comics.

Description: Death’s Head is a “Freelance Peacekeeping Agent”, which is his fancy term for Bounty Hunter. He hates being called a bounty hunter. He’s strong (probably Class 50-ish or better, even though his bio only has him around Class 25), durable as all hell, can fly, has a sense of humor, and has a multi-function arm with more options on it than Mega-Man on a bender.


Origin
This back story is told years later via a computer that had recorded Death’s Head’s entire life. DHII is watching it to learn about the original.

The following explanation is better to read than listen to me summarize it. After his creation, he was stolen, programmed to fight, and participated in an intergalactic robot war. Death’s Head actually got his start in Transformers comics, and this is the “robot wars” referred to in the origin scans. At the end of the Transformer wars, an explosion threw him into a time vortex. Inside the time flux, he was tricked (and shrunk to normal size) by a man named The Doctor (unrelated to Wildstorm) and sent into the year 8162 where he first appeared in mainstream comics.
(“Dragon’s Claws #4-5” is his first appearance in the mainstream Marvel Universe, and it is recreated in the last scan here).

Bonus Fight

This is a fun battle from a “What If?” comic (What If…? # 54). In this scenario, the original Death’s Head lives and Minion ends up becoming Charnel, originally a DHII villian. The fight is between the two. And considering how powerful Minion is to begin with, and also how powerful Charnel is, it’s a great feat for Death’s Head (though not in continuity).

He only wins via plot device (Minion had assimilated 616 Reed Richards, and DH uses that to his advantage) but it’s still an amusing fight.

But good to know...I guess that counts as a decent feat.

Yeah, the list of people Galvatron has pwned is long and impressive, the list of people who have beaten him in his prime is virtually nonexistent ... and out of those I don't think anyone beat him without help (except for Rodimus Prime that one time in the movie)

DH's reply:

Sadly "The Touch" doesn't last forever. Poor Roddy found that out in the comics.

I got my hands on the Transformers comics that he appears in, which includes his first appearence. The feats/battles are already posted on here (from the SHC site) but from a collecting standpoint I was excited to find them.

I'm old enough to have collected the original Transformers comics which first featured Deaths Head. He was a brilliant addition to the comic. The Rodimus, Galvatron, Deaths Head arc was absolutely fantastic.

Yeah. And Simon Furman was always a solid writer. The Transformers stuff is a touch cliche, but now that I start to realize the power levels of various Transformers, it's cool to see that Death's Head is above nearly all of them except for Galvatron.

Wait. The original Death's Head?!?! I really have to pick this up now. But yes, his resurrection seems a bit....odd. His creators are dead (if memory serves) and he was killed and gutted by Minion in the future. So it would be tricky, at best, for him to recreated with any sense of believability.

The most plausible explanation I can figure is that DH was an occasional time-traveler. As such, to him this could have taken place before his death at the hands DHII.

Or the writers just don't care. Either way, meh. I'm excited for SWORD #2

I first got into Death's Head after reading the Death's Head II limited series, not knowing anything about the Original. Then I started diggin up old comics of Death's Head and was a total fan. I love his humor and his design is awesome, Yes?
