Why is it that when ever a jedi/sith dies there lightsaber turns of?
Schecter
perhaps it automatically shuts off when not gripped, yet has a sort of locking mechanism for throwing. who knows.
General G
Perhaps it has a connection with the user and can tell when they are dead???
queeq
Like a dead man's button. Once you let go, it switches off. Perhaps in throws they use the Force to keep the button pressed.
General G
Seems odd to begin with that something as a lightsaber...very complex I don't doubt could work with a single button.
General G
That's not even a word.
queeq
Just as your previous post wasn't a proper line. I didn't get a word you were saying.
General G
How so? It was very reasonable.

I see no problems...maybe you are getting hard at understanding.
queeq
Grammar wise it's complete garble.

you missed a comma.
General G
Right...I will rewrite it for those understanding impared.
General G
"It seems odd that something as comples as a lightsaber can be activated and deactivated with a single button."
queeq
Comples?
And why? Your tv switches on with a single button. So does your computer.
General G
Complex.
Not lightsabers.
Sesse
I dont think a.lcohol and fgore combine well =/(
Sesse
Althiough I am sorry for any incovienience tomorrow =/ Its not my fault really. It its the alcohol.
Blax_Hydralisk
That's what she said ermm

Why would that be any different? All you need is a power source to switch on. Nothing complex about it.
Rogue Jedi
a lightsaber is turned on by thumbing an activation plate, thats the rectangular protrusion you see on most sabers. once contact with the plate ceases, the saber turns off. but, as Schecter stated, there is a "dead mans switch" which enables the wielder to throw the saber with the blade still engaged.
IrOnTrAiT
I would really like to find out the correct answer to this question.

queeq
He doesn't believe you... I don't understand why not. Seems simple enough.
General G
And yet it could be argued that we learned none of that in the films...therefore not the correct one.
queeq
But the films are all that count in this forum. And the other canon sources and they point to the same conclusion.
queeq
Of course. Without proof it's theoretical, but that doesn't mean it's unfounded. We work with what canon sources we have. Come up with new canon info and we may reconsider.
General G
I argue Rogue Jedi's dead man's switch theory, it allows them to throw it without it turning off? Where is that proof?
~JP~
Good grief, do you guys realise that you are arguing about something that doesnt even exist?
Pity that too, since a saber would come in handy around here some days.
queeq
Oooh...nasty.
Well, what else should we do in here? We have pitiful lives, no secret there.
~JP~
Now I did not say you have pitiful lives sweetheart.
queeq
The power of suggestion.
~JP~
More like guilt. Hehehehehehhehe
queeq
THat too but don't tell anyone.
Schecter

no proof. only evidence to support the theory. particularly darth vader throwing his saber like a boomerang in ep6, and yoda saber-spearing a stormtrooper in ep3. in order to argue against a theory, you need evidence to refute it.
queeq
Yes, Plus using the force a Jedi can keep the dead man's switch switched on.
General G
Assuming their is a dead man's switch!!! Maybe...it is just a button and they are just pressing it down while throwing it? No, well why not?
queeq
Yeah, why not. But it does switch off once someone drops it. That would indicate there is a dead man's switch. If there is another switch to override it, is no argument against the possibilty of its existence.
General G
Or...because it turns off when dropped, there is nobody to push the button.
Schecter

could very well be. so now we have 2 theories
queeq
No we don't.

That's called a dead man's switch... *sigh*

Making silly things is NO reason for too much time.
General G
But it is evidence? Sure.
You make little sense, you had said that the silly video I showed you before that the maker had too much time.
queeq
Yes. So? I never said the video was a reason for having too much time on your hands. I implied that it showed the maker had too much time on his hands.
Rogue Jedi
I have way too much time on my hands.
General G
Aren't you lucky.

queeq
No. It doesn't work for reason... that makes no sense at all.
General G
Yes, it does, think about it a sec.
queeq
So a lame video is THE REASON why people have to much time on the hands????? I think you have a loose wire, G.
General G
It could be A reason.
And that loose wire is but a minor flesh wound.
queeq
I'll make it major.
General G
hehe, then I will bite your legs off.
General G
Never leave home without it.

Or as G would ask: what's ANH?
General G
Wow...just wow. And why would I possibly ask that? I have seen it many times!
queeq
Since when?
General G
oooh, funny guy, aren't you? not!
General G
Yeah, now you see the true funny guy.
queeq
Okay okay... I'll put the mirror down.
General G
haha, the mirrow shattered when you picked it up.
queeq
It's indestructible...
General G
And yet still can't withstand the sight of your face.
queeq
No, I can't.
General G
You wouldn't know though.
queeq
I keep looking at it.
General G
*sigh* That is the wall behind the mirror queeq.
queeq
There are no walls... there is only me.
General G
...in front of a wall.
queeq
You are the wall and I'm gonna crush right through it.
General G
You can't crush through awesomeness!
queeq
True. But I can crush through you.
General G
oooooh, that is where you are wrong....me=awesomeness.

queeq pretty much owns you in every debate you guys have had.
Sesse
lightsabers turn off because they take their energy from jedi body temperature.
I once had a dream where Qui Gon said so.
Qui Gon would not lie? confused1
queeq
Sounds like a EU dream to me.
Rogue Jedi
I had a dream once where Ayala Secura and Adi Gallia took turns giving me Jedi head. crylaugh
I really did.
queeq
Must have been some wet bed.
Rogue Jedi
Dude, you have NO idea. I had a hand full of Twi Lek headtails.

queeq
Dunno... maybe she has four. Any canon sources on that?
General G
Not that I know of, but that would be odd.
queeq
So?
You like three better? Or six?
General G
I prefer the norm of 2.
queeq
Norm??? Now you know the SW norm of breasts???
General G
Sure, there are many humans that we see in SW and most aliens we see have two...so the norm can be 2.
queeq
Cows have four, pigs even more. So why would SW species always be restricted to two?
General G
They are not...from what we see in the movies...the norm can be said to be 2.
queeq
Huh??? Based on what? Did you look under their clothes?
General G
Ummmm...OK then queeq...tell me where there are species that we see in SW that have more than two.
queeq
I dunno... but there are so many. So many planets, so many species. If on our dinky planet creatures exist with more than two nipples, it stands to reason the SW U N I V E R S E has too.
General G
Yes...but do you have any canon sources for that?
queeq
Nope... I never said it was so. It stands to reason.
General G
Reason still doesn't count when we can clearly see nobody with over 2.
queeq
I never saw ANY boobs in SW. Maybe, just maybe Leia had some real ones in ROTJ, but all we might be seeing is filling. So since we don't SEE any full fledged boobs, should we now conclude no one in SW has boobs?
Schecter

No, but what else could they be?! They have to be boobs! We see protruding from a seeminly female's chest...so people think..."wow...she's got some boobs" we don't see them in entirety, but enough to know what they are.
queeq
Just you sick imagination.
Okay, so we have circumstantial evidence that the humna species and maybe the TWilek's have two boobs. THat is still pretty presumptious to conclude that females from ALL species in the SW universe have two boobs.
General G
It goes well enough to conclude that...what other female star wars species do we see? No female wookies (always assume I am not counting that dirty Special), no female Rodians, no female Yoda's (Yaddle????), no female Hutts, etc. Therefore it can still be enough to assume that in the SW universe...two boobs is at least the norm.
queeq
We do see a female Hutt... in TPM.... You know, I am certain now, you NEVER saw these movies.
General G
Oh wow, a female Hutt...you couldn't tell if both sexes had boobs or not, they are huge.
queeq
Notice how wrong you were AGAIN?
General G
They don't count.
queeq
They do. You said there were no Huttese women in SW films.
