He's by far the most interesting character in James Robinson's Starman. ^_^

And in Underworld Unleashed, he basically taunted the big bad Neron, telling him to peddle his trinkets elsewhere.

Is it true that Shade's powers come from the Sunless Sea, which is part of the power of the GEB?

I remember hearing they are channeled from the remnant of the Great Evil Beast, known as the Sunless Sea.
