He's by far the most interesting character in James Robinson's Starman. ^_^

And in Underworld Unleashed, he basically taunted the big bad Neron, telling him to peddle his trinkets elsewhere.

Regarding the source of Shade's powers, the only statement I recall was made during Genesis: "Many whose powers are kissed by God have seen their powers die� That's true... Of course there are those whose powers God wants nothing to do with."

That statement was made after nearly every super-powered being in existence lost their powers, thanks to the God Wave/Source shutting down. Shade's powers, however, were entirely unaffected. So based on that, his power source have nothing to do with God.

I remember hearing they are channeled from the remnant of the Great Evil Beast, known as the Sunless Sea.
