According to how you interpret these archaic do's and donts.
For those who DONT believe in God, how many of these commandments have broken even though they dont actually mean anything...

I don't know, because I don't believe in them. But why are some really important things missing? Like for example: Thou shall not have slaves?

It's pretty must implied that you have right to at least one manservant/maidservant.

Does saluting the flag or saying a pledge of allegiance violate #2 for denominations other than Jehovah's Witnesses? As a kid I remember being instructed not to do so for that exact reason. JW kids got an exemption from that as well as Xmas assemblies and carol singing. Taking that into consideration, I think I've only not broken 1, 6, and 9. 1 is a catch as since I no longer believe in anything supernatural I can't really put a God before another.

Is the manservant's ass a lesser sin than the actual neighbour's ass?

Three observations I've just made;

1) Commandments 1 to 4 is just God being vain & petty.
2) Why did he stop at 10?
3) OMG no mention of homosexuality whatsoever!

Tzeentch
I have not broken 1, 2, 6 and 7.

But extremists would interpret that as "Thou shall NOT rape." therefore it's ok to rape.

We need a new set. That is actually a great idea for a thread.
How about "Thou shall not double dip a chicken nugget in curry sauce when eating with friends"?

riv6672
New Commandments as a thread isnt a bad idea. Do it!

1. You shall have no other gods before Me. - innocent
2. You shall not make idols. - innocent
3. You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain. - guilty
4. Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. - guilty
5. Honor your father and your mother. - seems subjective. i'll say guilty though
6. You shall not murder. - innocent
7. You shall not commit adultery. - guilty
8. You shall not steal. - guilty
9. You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor. - not sure what this means? lying in general or just false accusations? guilty to lying and innocent to false accusations
10. You shall not covet. - seems vague. i'll say guilty though.

1. You shall have no other gods before Me. - I don't know. He's not God to me so...
2. You shall not make idols. No.
3. You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain. Yes lol.
4. Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. **** no lol.
5. Honor your father and your mother. To my great embarrassment, no.
6. You shall not murder. Not yet.
7. You shall not commit adultery. Meh. Is it adultery if they're not married?
8. You shall not steal. yes.
9. You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor. Yes unfortunately.
10. You shall not covet. Oh **** yes.

So I'm 6-7/10

in the Bible, these are the 10 commandments, but the things of the law (of God) are not limited to that...

"I wrote for him the ten thousand things of my law; but they are counted as a strange thing."
Hosea 8:12

my opinion is that this statement is more of a hyperbole, but it did really mean that the laws of God are very plentiful... another thing to note is that these commandments were for Israel:

"Remember ye the law of Moses my servant, which I commanded unto him in Horeb for all Israel, with the statutes and judgments."
Malachi 4:4

and most of it are changed and/or amended by Jesus and His apostles in the New Testament... for example:

"You have heard that it was said, You shall not commit adultery.
But I say to you that every one who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart."
Matthew 5:27-28

so much for that...

as for the thread ---

as a former Catholic, i'm guilty of violating #1 and #2 in the past...
#5 - i do love and respect my parents, but i had some arguments with them before...
#10 - if Matthew 5:27-28 will take effect, i'm guilty of this - i consider this as my weakness - looking at beautiful female species with lust... stick out tongue
