Wonder Man

Who wins the scene 🎬?
DarkSaint85
Like....I am actually thinking the F4 could win this.

They shouldn't but the bullsh|t surrounding Sue is thick. Without plot armor, he warps them into tampons.

If Magneto can hold and beat Proteus, Sue - who has held a Cosmic Cube back subconsciously - can do the same.
Nobody says the bullshit surrounding Magneto is thick.
Smurph
Magneto didn't really hold Proteus, did he?
He took control of his electrons and dispersed him

I'm missing the word 'back' - so Magneto held Proteus back, then beat him.

"Close enough to the magnetic spectrum". Key words there. Sue gets turned into a diet coke.
Wonder Man
Well they beat Beyonder with hyperspace in the original Secret Wars. Mister Fantastic should be able to maintain the advantage.

She's blocked a Cosmic Cube for an entire night. She's blocked the Ultimate Nullifier. She has blocked the TVA's reality-rewriting. She's blocked Doom firing Big Bang energy. She's blocked weapons that were killing Eternity. She's blocked weapons that punch through time and create white holes. I have the scans if you want to see them.
Sue doesn't rely on needing to understand the energy to block it, unlike Magneto - this is actually showing how she's more powerful than him in this regard.

What fight was this? I remember something a while back where they said Proteus had split himself into like 5 or more people and wasn't at full power. It was Magneto that mentioned Protues sliced himself up like bread and that each piece wasn't as powerful/infinite as the original or something.

It's the same fight. Then Magneto pulls Proteus apart.

Point here is that Proteus is still energy - and Sue can block energy, without needing to understand and study it like Magneto needs to.
carver9
He wasn't at full power there. Also, Proteus has owned Magneto before...

We know that Sue's shields can block matter manipulators, doe. and this was when she was younger, so weaker:
https://i.postimg.cc/CKNRmvwT/Sersi.png
And again, Sue has blocked reality warping like the Cosmic Cube, for an entire night, even subconsciously. The UN. The Time-Variance Authority.
So we know she can block matter manipulating energy (Sersi) and can block power sources higher than Proteus.
Wonder Man
Rachel tried to beat beyonder with heat death and failed. An experience can trace the past and lock the proof so the lesson is prime and the number is multiplied forward. Then the accuracy can design and execute. Then executive function can improve the mindset and knock out. Then the look is normalized and the solution is apparent. Then the task is willing and capable so that right wins over might.
Wonder Man
Then you have realitivity.

I'm missing the word 'back' - so Magneto held Proteus back, then beat him. ah yeah, I do think Sue could block Proteus
I'm less convinced that she could do what Magneto did to beat Proteus. But maybe she wouldn't have to.
Wonder Man
With normalized relationship you have relativity and can have indivisibility and the individual.

Fwiw, it takes a lot for us to disagree, I think.
I don't think she on her own can do any more than contain him - I mean, she can try splitting him with bubbles but I don't think it would take etc.
Glorificus
Depends on how creative Proteus gets, I suppose. Theoretically, he could also possess the others as well, and turn them against Sue.
But even if Sue's shields could theoretically defend against Proteus's reality warping for a while, I don't think she can actually disperse him the way Magneto's energy manipulation did... so it becomes a war of attrition. In which case, Proteus can just warp their environment to a vacuum, and then wait until Sue tires out and runs out of air and water after a few days to a week, and then win.
DarkSaint85
I think it's more she contains Proteus in a bubble. He can't possess the others, then, or affect the environment. No matter how creative he gets.
And she can maintain a bubble for a long time. Iirc she contained Franklin when he was possessed by Nicholas Scratch for ages.

But would Sue's forcefield actually contain him?
We've seen Shadowcat phase through Sue's fields effortlessly... what's stopping a reality warper at the level of Proteus from just warping his own body to be able to phase through the forcefields just as easily?

I reckon Shadowcat wouldn't be able to do the same anymore - her power works by slipping her atoms between the atoms of materials. Sue can now do it at the subatomic level:
https://comicvine.gamespot.com/a/uploads/original/11139/111391579/9572983-1000022634.jpg
And Shadowcat isn't energy. Proteus is. IW can block energy.
DarkSaint85
Also, one major thing I completely missed: Proteus needs visual contact for his powers to work:

That's....a pretty major weakness against the Invisible Woman. Or is that gone now?
leonidas
lol so we're now saying that to beat standard, average sue, you need to use powers GREATER than the big bang, and greater than the energy required to kill eternity....? THAT's the argument you're going with? sounds reasonable

The scans are what they are but I don't think those propositions need to be accepted for this thread.
As a starting point, Magneto can block Proteus with effort, and I think Sue could do the same with somewhat less exertion involved.

And look at my original post - I said that strangely enough, the FF could win.
You also forgot the Cosmic Cube
