So George has made it official. There’s to be a base on the Moon, and humans are flying to Mars somewhere between 2020 and 2030.
Good or bad idea?

20 millions?
I think it'´ll be... fantasillions!!
But I'm for it. Yes, cut back on the insane weapons-dealings and help educate the poorest people in the world.
Going to Mars is a step in the right direction. Think of all the technologies that will spin off such a project. Recycling of water for example, and of air and waste... better engines...

That's so sad the world is doing that. I know World Vision is always in need of help for foundations but most of the government only give very little money. Millions for spaceships instead of feasts for the hunger, that's a shame.
Hmmm...humans going to Mars can be a good thing and a bad thing. The good part of it is all the new technology that will be formed, like Omega said. The bad thing is, well, look what we've already done to this planet, so what if we just end up going and destroying another?
And I think the cost will be more like 60 billion, not 60 million...and that's a damn lot of money
I think it's a bad idea, unless absolutely necessary.
I mean why not deal with problems in our world now, like violence, and murder, and crime, and hunger, and poverty, and etc, instead of funding a mission that may not even succeed, and could just end up costing millions and milliosn of dollars we don't have to spend anyways

Good Idea in general
But for Bush, BAD IDEA,
anyway, this is gonna fall through, Its just pre-election hype.
But If you think about it the economy is in soo much danger and the domestic problems are just too great to go around diverting money to NASA and such.
But I do think that this could potentially be a good thing, If it were timed right. Maybe after the election and we have a new pres. *crosses fingers* and the economy rebounds. Then yes, It would be a good thing. Also with a flourishing space program we would not be warring with anyone, we would be too focused on Mars.
Bad idea now;Good idea later.
we f@#$ up earth so bad that we have to move to another planet and destroy it... if the natural resources of earth is depleted, then by all means, go ahaed... but would you really survive in a desert planet, not island, PLANET... plus, do you eally want to live where everythign is f@#$% red..?
i agree there are ways to suvive, but i don't wanna go thru all that hassle... if we have the technology to make mars livable, why not use it on earth first...
overpopulation..? just tell the poor and ugly people to stop reproducing and get a job... or a mirror...
It might have been a good idea but certainly not at this moment in time. I might be off just a bit but the USA is having one of their largest deficits (sp) in years. And then Bush starts planning for manned missions to Mars and the Moon. Maybe he should start getting his country back on track before he starts waisting billions of dollars on any kind of space mission.
(he only does it to get ppl to vote on him anywayz)

rediculous, it's to get votes back to his camp
spending a lot of money that (oh surprise surprise) his succeeders need to pay!
if you just want to waste vaste amounts of money instead of spending it in a good way (as suggested above: helping out the problems in the world) he could have well burned the money
well i was thinking the same thing thre must be something on Mars which the goverment wants, and i think it is oil.

"One ought never to turn one's back on a threatened danger and try to run away from it. If you do that, you will double the danger. But if you meet it promptly and without flinching, you will reduce the danger by half.-----Sir Winston Churchill
I was thinking about the Martians - if the Americans find oil there - there's gonna be some Martian butt-kicking - George will say that they have saucers of mass destruction...
