This is a really fascinating story, one that I never heard about, even when it came to light in 2011. Apparently, there was no time to arm the F-16s with missiles or anything, so the jets were sent to crash into the airliner and bring it down that way.

This is less disturbing then it could of been, it seems they chose to do this as opposed to being ordered to do it even if they didn't want to. Since I sure as hell wouldn't be committing suicide if the army told me to.

I'm just shocked that they didn't have any armed aircraft on standby. Seems like a pretty shitty level of readiness for a country like the USA. I mean, what if it had been more than just an airliner? What if it had been a flight of attack jets from another country like Russia or China? Weren't there any surface to air missiles in place?

Well, he was the President of the United States during the event that this thread is centered on...

To be fair, I don't think Bush should be blamed for the lack of military readiness. It's never the president's job to oversee things like that. That falls on the Joint Chiefs and others in the Pentagon.
Edit: You do realize that if Clinton had given the kill order at that moment, we likely would have also killed members of a Middle Eastern royal family?

You do realize if he had killed him we would still have 3000 people and the towers would still be up, we would not have this privatized defense force known as the TSA and the hundreds of other things we now have to deal with.
