Crew members were interviewing residents about the European migrant crisis in the suburb of Rinkeyby when they were set upon by a group of masked men.
Footage released by the Nine Network on Friday show Ms Hayes politely walking through the streets saying hello to a group of men.
But the situation spiraled get out of hand - with an assailant hurling a heavy metal can and members of the team kicked and punched.
The network claims a cameraman was even run over."

Liberal journalists? Are you serious? That's Jan Sjunnesson, a member of the Sweden Democrats which is the racist political party in Sweden with large numbers of representatives being laid-off annually because of death threats and assaults against foreigners.
So you have cameramen being pushed aside by cars and having cigarette packages thrown at them for insulting the people around them in the most violent district in Sweden—which isn't populated by Syrian immigrants by the way—accompanied by a racist political figure?
I'm surprised—and honestly a bit disappointed—that he didn't get shot. Because the problem isn't the immigration, it's the racists creating these divides between the populace the refugees.

If you are in the company of a racist icon in one of the most racially diverse and violent districts you run the risk of being attacked. Jan knew this, that's why he stood back.
The guy that did attack them—the one in the black jacket—was held back by a foreigner and eventually run over by another foreigner.
I'm amazed by how short-sighted you are. I've been around immigrants all my life, they pose absolutely no threat. In fact in high school I trained Tae-Kwan-Do in a district called Angered—which is also one of these racially diverse urban areas—for three years, three days week back and forth. And nothing ever happened.
