US cop fired for hate posts on George Floyd.

https://www.wdrb.com/in-depth/louis...d0c55074ec.html

Clark responded that "not all speech is welcome or tolerated" and that, with current unrest throughout the country over racial injustice, including the local shooting deaths of Breonna Taylor and David McAtee, her posts "reflect your endorsement of hate speech."

If she is in some sort of union I don't see this ending well for the director or at the very least she is going to be rehired and an apology issued to her.

Sorta like the DA in the atlanta shooting of brooks WAY overstepped and is now under investigation, not the officers.

working in Metro Corrections where 40% of the population is Black, Clark said.

"I am concerned that you were a target," he said. "You will always be associated with your posts. I cannot protect you at work from an act of revenge, nor could I forgive myself if you were harmed while at work because of the post you made."

And Showalter agreed that if those Facebook posts were placed predominantly on her vehicle at Jefferson Square Park, which is next to the jail and the site of ongoing protests for months, "your car would be damaged," Clark wrote.

Could be the real reason he acted against her.

Seems like a good thread for Impediment to provide input since he has hands on experience.

"Louisville jail officer fired for 'hate speech' Facebook posts about George Floyd, Confederate flag" -Snip

Probably a staunch Trump supporter.

I was curious as to what she actually said:

quote:
Showalter shared a post about Floyd on her personal Facebook page that said, "Well lookie what I found about George Floyd" and listed crimes he had allegedly been charged with while adding, "he was such a saint alright."

The post also said, "It would be such a shame if this went viral."

Floyd died on May 25 after a white police officer knelt on his neck for nearly nine minutes in Minneapolis. His death sparked nationwide protests.

Showalter also shared posts about the Confederate flag, including one that said, "Slavery is a choice" and the flag is not about race, "It's about freedom."

Another post Showalter shared about the Confederate flag said, "If we had equal rights in this country, wouldn't my southern heritage be just as important as your black history?"

So she's a martyr. - she made herself one. She literally made this exact point in her last post about black history vs. southern heritage.

It's high-time people close out their social media accounts or post completely anonymously. Until a freedom of speech protection regulation gets implemented, you cannot express your personal ideas unless it fits with whatever the moving target is for that date. And those considered "woke" just 4 years ago, are no longer considered "woke." It's a minefield. Espousing the beliefs of BLM would have gotten you thrown into prison during the cold war during the Red Scare. Now if you don't espouse anti-Nuclear family, anti-Law Enforcement, and pro-Communism, you're considered racist and terrible and should be fired/shunned like you raped someone.

Yeah she shouldn't have been fired for expressing herself. They only succeed in further polarizing society by firing someone when they express themselves in their private/personal lives.

Now if/when personal views is expressed at the work place, well then that''s something to be addressed. We as a society must resist the whole "thought police" mentality cause that's the easy path to fascism...

Except of course she's in law enforcement, in a position of power and her racism and bias could bleed into how she treats certain people under her care.

If she were to have an incident with say a Black inmate, that inmate's lawyer could use her racist social media comments as a weapon against her and the jail/state would get sued for allowing her to remain when they knew how she felt towards certain people due to their skin color.

Just like a free speech nation allows, her employer can fire her for going against what they feel is preferred speech.

Don't forget, kiddos, preferred speech from your employer != a violation of your free speech. You still have it. smile

Let's also note she didn't post anything actually racist. It was only racist to people who are "woke." Her position is explicitly anti-racist and she's not supportive of the racist group BLM or the inappropriate support of George Floyd. She did not post anything racist and only idiots will believe. Even her boss and union make that clear: she was fired because her kind of speech would be incindiary in the current politically correct climate and could cause rioting/looting and/or violence against fellow cops. She was fired because she was talking about criminals who commit crimes that she's opposing those criminals commit. lol, this is a CF.

In this instance, you're referring to tort. In tort, you have to prove a preponderance of evidence, not "beyond a reasonable doubt." In this case, it is difficult to collect any evidence making the tort case nigh-impossible. Meaning, your point here is actually invalid.

In order to make such a case to take up a case, you need regulatory controls in place such as audits and fines to collect such evidence.

This is part of why I want to do away with for-profit prisons and implement incarceration regulations. Some regulations are obvious and no-nonsense and this is one area where it should exist.

The Confederate Flag and "What about the whites" is associated with dog whistling.

Perhaps unfairly, but it is what it is.

So you can't articulate the reason for posting your topic. I understand.

And btw kiddo: there is already a Floyd thread. If you need a link just ask.
