Resident Evil: Apocalypse didn't break any records during its opening weekend, but the film recouped almost all of its production costs with a $23.7 million gross and is poised for profit from here on out. That will probably be enough for Sony/Screen Gems to greenlight the third film in the series which has already been conceptualized.
Series producer Paul W.S. Anderson, who wrote and directed the first film and penned the screenplay for Apocalypse, talked with the Hollywood Reporter about his plans for the next installment. "I always thought of the Resident Evil films as a trilogy," he said. "The first film was a prequel to the game world. The new movie intersects the film and game worlds. And the third movie will act as a follow-up to the games. It's a nice arc – prehistory, in-game and then a sequel to the games."
Anderson recently made similar comments to SCI FI Wire. "I think it's a franchise that has legs, and I would very much like to see a third movie. I don't know if I'd direct it. I think it would have to depend on what happens."
"Whether I directed it or not," Anderson said, "it would be a franchise I would want to stay very much in control of and very involved in. There's a broad range of stories to tell, a very wide Resident Evil universe, so there are a lot of potential stories that we could do that would be tied in to the video games."
i thought apocalypse was pretty good.... i thought there was a bit too much action though.. should have elaborated more on the storyine.. but anyways ya i wud love a third film.. but i want more of VALENTINE.. she was completely dead in the second half of RE2
Gender: Male Location: somewhere in Canada i hope.
becuase the first movie was made by a diff person, so he thought it would be cool to make a RE movie that was nothing like the real RE (dont ask me why). but the 2nd movie, had to put her in to ceep it going even though i wanted her to die in the very start, so ther would be more jill.

dont mind my poor grammer skills. I still can make a point.
i love jill and milla in the movie. I love the game, however i think i liked the first one more because it seened to be more real. The second was awesome, and I'd buy it in a heartbeat, but it had tooo much action that kind of was exaggerated, the camera movements were not stable, and the action sequences were shaky. I also didn't like how the nemesis turned good. I just can't wait for the third one though, and i hope jill will be in in it cuz she was tite.
I can't see a third film being made because the fourth Resident Evil game will not have anymore zombies in it just insane killer villagers. So there is no story left for them to use.
True.. but umbrella leaves little undercover operations all over the globe... even south america and the depths of the antarctic arent safe from the clutches of umbrella.
The only problem with the action vs the horror is that when you have characters traveling in groups it requires a more massive setting.. whereas solo characters would only require a single house for the setting to be creepy. At least thats my opinion anywho
