By greatest, do you mean most evil/despicable, or the most powerful and/or grandiose?

Edit: My vote goes to Hannibal Lecter.

Ozymandias is one of my tops.

The Creeper is an awesome horror movie monster. He's my top over both Jason and Freddy (we'll, Jason possible ties).

Alex DeLarge, from A Clockwork Orange (though he is the main character, so that might not make him the antagonist).

Khan from both the old and the new movies. I love smart villains like him and Ozy.

By greatest I mean by antagonizing those who get in their way. Power has nothing to do with this thread.

I'll throw my hat in with Man of Steel Superman as well.

Eat your heart out, Bin Laden.

Though to be fair, that estimate also takes into consideration the World Engine iirc.

Since "antagonist" in this thread seems to be synonymous with "villain", I'll throw in Daniel Plainview from There Will Be Blood. El Indio and Angel Eyes from the Dollars trilogy as well.
