Tongue Was Sheriff JW Pepper REALLY Almost Killed By General Zod?!

Hello all,

Ever wondered what happened to Sheriff JW Pepper {from "LALD" and "TMWTGG"}? Well, I just may have the answer for ya ...

I was just watching "Superman II", and noticed something interesting - Clifton James {the actor who plays Pepper} is in it. Here's what's weird - in the film, he plays ... the loudmouthed, redneck sheriff of a rural American town! He even drives a similar police car to Pepper! And what's more, the sheriff is never even named in the either the film, or {to my knowledge} the end credits! Were the competitive "Superman" producers making a sly wink to the Bond series' diminishing quality {which was on "for your eyes only" when this was made around 1980} by including the ever annoying JW Pepper in their movie???

I had honestly never noticed this before; and so I watched, transfixed, hoping and praying that the evil General Zod of Krypton {or one of his two superpowered associates} would crush the puny sheriff into dust. Or perhaps melt him with his laser eyes? Or perhaps freeze him with his ice breath? I was literally glued to my seat {as you can probably tell, I'm certainly no fan of good ol' Jay Dubya Peppah}. But sadly, to my immmense disappointment, the sheriff didn't even get a scratch on him as he watched the carnage going on around him.

Has anyone else ever noticed this bizarre "cameo"?

"no one flees from sherrif Jay Dubbaya Peppah!" confused

Um, I think you misunderstood me. I meant that they never name his character in Superman, thus lending weight to the possibility that it is indeed Jay Dubya stick out tongue .

I didn't notice this until today either eek! . Imagine my surprise when I saw him ... and my crushing disappointment when Lord Zod didn't at least cause him some kind of sering pain and agony stick out tongue .

According to Clifton James' IMDB profile, he is a "blustery, stocky, loud, although often genial character actor who has created a niche for himself playing often frustrated and fast talking southern characters". I wonder why stick out tongue ...

JW was a silly, pointless, and downright racist character IMHO {"pointy heads!"}. And bringing him back for "TMWTGG" was most certainly not a wise move! He already hogged enough screen time in "LALD" as it is! Still, at least he has made no further screen encores ... to date ...

Eugh, what a horrible thought. Them bringing back She'iff Jay Dubya Peppah for Bond 21 ...

In a way, I suppose that Jack Wade from "Goldeneye" and "Tomorrow never dies" was the new JW ... though not half as bad, thank God ...

Hmmm ... well according to the Superman Homepage, he's the sheriff of East Houston, Idaho. I'm no expert, but I'm fairly certain that JW Pepper was a sheriff for Louisiana ...

Ah well. Maybe JW will still get what he deserves in the upcoming "casino royale", eh stick out tongue ? Alright, alright, I know - I'm fishing here ...
