His power is literally "winning". That's all BP really is, an "I win" button. This makes him hard to argue against, because you can't disprove his BP will work any more then you can disprove Domino's luck will save her.
I totally hate characters like this, but his win/loss rate is also not 100%.
So is there a pattern to his losses, or is it whenever the writer feels like thing?

Don't be a jerk just to be a jerk, but if you are expressing your true inner feelings and beliefs, or at least trying to express that inner child, and everyone gets pissed off about it, never NEVER apologize for it. Let them think what they want, let them define you in their narrow little minds while they suppress every last piece of them just to keep a friend that never liked them for themselves in the first place.
^ Midnighter’s abilities are more consistently bypassed or short circuited rather than straight overwhelmed. But I mean… surely Deathstroke has fought opponents like Midnighter. What about Prometheus?
Domino may be an apt comparison in one way at least -- neither ability can make the impossible happen. If you've adequately closed off their routes to victory, then they're ****ed like anyone else.
You can neutralize the battle computer through raw skill, for example. If you can't beat your opponent to begin with, the battle computer can't change that. We saw this against Zealot.
