quote:

As though it in turn sensed his contact, the floating remote droid let loose a volley of laser beams aimed at him, simultaneously zipping from one midair position to the next as it fired. Jax, blindfolded, whipped up the energy sword, countering each burst by knowning, before it was fired, which direction it would come from. One...two...three...four...five...
The sixth, and last, beam stung him painfully on the right side.

...

"On the other hand, no one but a Jedi could have blocked five out of six beams. "

...

Jax glanced down at the weapon, saw his disorted reflection looking back at him from the blade's surface. "Yeah? How do you know th---?"
I-Five suddenly whipped up his left hand, index finger extended, and fired a laser beam at Jax. The beam splashed off the ionized fire that suddenly coated the length of the blade, which Jax had automatically raised to block the beam.
"That's how," I-Five said, "The speed of light is just under three hundred thousand kilometers per second. You are currently seven-point-three meters from me. Your Force-augmented anticipatory reflex action is obviously working fine. You just have to let it."

The droid says he blocked a laser instead of a blaster bolt from a mere seven-point-three meters. The droid fired before the Jedi was in motion to deflect the laser.
This should allow him to put up a decent fight in sabers.
Seven-point-three meters distance over the speed of light in meters/second meant that the Jedi had to move his arms in 2.435e-8 seconds.

No Jedi is lightspeed, for the love of ****.

Theres no indication he raised the saber afterwards. Precognition is a thing, remember. It even says "Force-augmented anticipatory reflex".

Yeah, there is no being in the sw universe that can move at the speed of light, with the exception of (maybe?) force gods.

It never says he moved at light speed. The length of his arms over 2.435e-8 seconds means he moves at less than the speed of light.
The droid caught him off guard as well.

Ok, but no Jedi moves anywhere near the speed of light either. Or even a respectable fraction of it. Or 1% of it.

The Jedi was also in a sitting position from earlier, too.

In fact Jax must have activated his lightsaber before the droid fired since lightsaber blades can't extend as fast as it would need to to catch the laser after it'd been fired if it was going lightspeed.

It's been awhile since I read the books, but isn't Jax supposed to be one of weaker Jedi?

Roan is good, but he can't carry his team here.

Jax is caught off guard in that passage. He still had to move the length of his arms within that time frame.

A blue saber is already fully lit ( movie and offpanel ) when the Korun Master goes to strike at the Chancellor.

Anakin viewing Eta-2s ( Obi-Wan ) on the opposing end. Mace Windu producing over two dozen afterimages from Anakin's perspective. Mace Windu was approaching light speed.

Speeds of X-Wings.
quote:

Some were lost to simple collisions, flying at near-relativistic speeds through very, very crowded space. Almost half of the Twenty-third's Green Squadron was taken out by a mass of asteroids that didn't co-here into a planetoid as quickly as the navicomps had predicted.

Luke before RotJ was already able to see sublight ships moving in slow motion. The standard Tie Fighter moves at around the same speed as the X-Wings.
Eta-2 and the Tri-Fighter droids are faster.
quote:

Use the Force, Luke. Luke grinned. The first time he'd heard that, during the attack on the Death Star, he hadn't understood. He knew what it meant now. "Targeting sensors off, rear shields off, reroute more power to the guns."
Artoo was not pleased and said so. "Sorry, buddy, but this way is better."

Luke reached out. The Force was here, as it was everywhere, and it was no harder to touch deep in space than it was in the swamps on Dagobah. He let it fill him. The TIE fighters suddenly seemed to be moving slower. Luke’s hands flew over the controls; he moved the stick with sharp and precise movements. Swung to his starboard and lit the lasers, double-tapped the fire button.

Lines of fire lanced out and shattered one, two of the four TIE fighters. The explosion spat a hard spray of wreckage at him as Luke looped away. Shards of the destroyed TIEs sleeted against the X-wing’s transparisteel canopy, a meal and plastic hail.

But his precognition obviously wasn't. He could have moved his arm as the droid was moving his in order to line up the shot.

Bullshit. Even if they can move that fast, theres no proof they do so in combat, since as the quote says, people cannot react at that speeds. Durrrr!

Shadows of the Empire ( before RotJ )

They flew at "near-relativistic speeds" and some of them collided with other X-Wings. ( Shadows of Mindor )

"... Far from merely human."
"The Force nudged hands on control yokes ... "
Highly trained Jedi pilots.
quote:

They blew past the tri-fighters, looping in evasive spirals. The droid ships wrenched themselves into pursuit maneuvers that would have killed any living pilot. The slip-jaws maneuver was named for the scissorlike mandibles of the Kashyyyk slash-spider. Droids closing rapidly on their tails, cannonfire stitching space on all sides, the two Jedi pulled their ships through perfectly mirrored rolls that sent them streaking head-on for each other from opposite ends of a vast Republic cruiser. For merely human pilots, this would be suicide. By the time you can see your partner's starfighter streaking toward you at a respectable fraction of lightspeed, it's already too late for your merely human reflexes to react.

But these particular pilots were far from merely human.

The Force nudged hands on control yokes and the Jedi starfighters twisted and flashed past each other belly-to-belly, close enough to scorch each other's paint.

So they fly at (5/12) x speed of light in according to this.
quote:

"... We're five light-seconds out..."
"Which means that explosion happened what, twelve seconds ago now?"

The following words are for pencilcrayon only, no one else is to read them. No one.

No one.

[SPOILER - highlight to read]: Pencilcrayon, if you are reading this message, I have a suggestion for you with respect to making headway with Nephthys. I would recommend changing the title of your sources from things like Shadows of the Empire and Return of the Jedi to things like Rule of Two and The Old Republic: Fatal Alliance. I guarantee you that if Neph believes it is TOR characters or Bane moving at relativistic speed, he will gladly accept your premise. Remember: it's only unreasonable if a non-TOR character is wanked. Use that to your advantage. The fool will surely succumb to your devious trap.

The idea of Jedi being near lightspeed is retarded in any era, as is the concept of ordinary humans flying around "a respectable fraction of lightspeed."
