Glad to have been wrong on the result, but with how epic the fight was becoming, I wouldn't have minded it going either way. Since I'm more deep rooted in Halo now than I was back then during their first Death Battle (about as much as I am with Doom at this point, ignoring the pessimism for Halo's current status and future), seeing Chief get maimed like that was still a bit tough to watch, but such is the nature of Death Battle.

Would've thought the energy sword and crucible blade would clash for a moment, but otherwise excellent.

It's not really a surprise. Chief is several tiers comfortably below Doom Slayer. Their feats speak volumes.

I guess what it was is that for years and years here, I had gotten conditioned to Chief's physical superiority. I mean against classic Doomguy, Chief did have the edge to his credit, but modern Doomguy proved to be on another level from either.
