pro evo vs FIFA
its the football rivalry that matches and surpasses the old firm...the southhampton/portsmouth...the barca/real...the river/boca
it eclipses them all
on the one hand you have the mighty EA sports with their licensec graphics lovers porn...they relied for years on an ease of play and was the bastion of the casual gamers collection
pro evo...the japanese attempts to over throw the king of football failed for years...but those in the know slowly defected to its cause and its emergence on the PS2 was a massive crushing blow to the dominance of the soccer gaming empire that EA had relied on for years
so for the past few years konami have had the upper hand but some would argue that the restructuring of FIFA's forces had brought the force into balance in 2005
now EA have released the thouroughly enjoyable FIFA street and i for one am loving it
what about you lot?
FIFA...or Pro evoluion soccer

I've only played FIFA and I have nothing but good things to say about it. I honestly can't imagine Konami coming out with a game that rivals, or surpasses FIFA, but that's the feedback I've gotten from a couple of different...highly respected...members.
Normally I wouldn't do this....but this year, i'll be getting both games to do a direct comparison. Especially with this year being a World Cup year.....I'm hoping these games will have a little something extra to offer.

Fifa is the idiots choice - if you're won over by good graphics and the "real" teams, or simplistic gameplay, then it's great
But Pro is a real football fan's game - using more realistic (harder) play, although without the majority of real teams, it is the better game based on game play. Nor is it heavily balanced on having Henry to win the game

personally i love pro evo for one great reason...the crazy heart stopping goal mouth scrambles that often happen that i haven't seen in FIFA...
when playing multiplayer there is nothing better...

So is it true that Pro does not have real players and teams?

it does, just not the extensive licensing that fifa does...
pro evo imo... it plays like football... its more random and realistic than fifa...
in fifa you can score 50 yard free kicks...
in pro evo you can hit a shot that hits the post, comes out, the striker follows it up, it hits the goalkeeper then hits the defenders leg and goes in...
in pro evo scoring actually feels like an accomplishment... especially on mutliplayer...

Fifa is great and 2005 is the best yet. But Pro Evo comes out a clear winner in my opinion. Ive got them both on the Xbox. The gameplay is sooo much more realistic than Fifa. They only have a few licences so the Premiership is made up teams, but you can edit the team names and most of the Premiership players are on the right team. They just cant use the proper team name for some reason. Hopefully this will be a huge kick in the arse for Fifa and they will go balls out on 2006, in the end if they are competing against each other the consumer wins.

pro evo 4 has fully licensed teams for 3 or 4 leagues...siera A among them...the english premiership isnt licensed and neither is the french league but the player names are for the most part correct
the team names need to be edited (although you cant change the commentary names)
the only problem is changing all the non league teams...the teams that are good enough to be in it although their leagues are not...boca juniors...rangers and celtic etc....all those teams need to be fully edited including the player names....
fortunately though...konami had the sense to put on the real names on their web site

fifa has a more arcade type feel to it. Pro is obviously more realistic and has better physics. The nearly endless movements captured on the players dribbling skills are amazing. The graphics dont differ much between the two. Fifa is better in the sense that anyone can pick up the controller and find entertainment out of the game. Most sports fans i know dislike soccer but love fifa. Pro is more satisfying and rewarding on the scheme of things, but it can at times become tedious if all you want is a quick multiplayer grudge match. If you like soccer games though, there is little reason to pick fifa over evo4. true, fifa has a larger production value which results in more arena's and complete character listing, but who really cares about that kind of stuff in a soccer game?

My mate scored the best EVER goal in pro evo?
I've got it on my memory can't if any one doubt me, read on:

My freinds are playing, England vs Holland. After 90 minutes its 0 - 0, so extra time (silver goal)

At 14.24 minutes of the first half, my friend (Owen) scores a pretty nice goal, nothing spectaculary.

and you know if you concede at that time in extra time then you're guaranteed to lose right?
WRONG!
Just after the post-goal kick off Owen gives away a timewasting free kick just behind the half-way line (in John's half) at 14.44 minutes.

So the most amazing goal ever then happens!!!!!!!!
John makes his goalkeeper come up to take the free kick in his own half!

The only goes and bloody goalkeeper scores!!!!!!!!!!!! Owen's goalkeeper gets blocked by his own players and the ball sweety and powerfully flows into the goal over more than half of a pitch!

Hmm...I was thinking about starting a thread like this. I wanted to know which one was the best footy game out there. With the World Cup goin on now and all it makes me wanna play some games online against other people.
So are these the only 2 titles that are any good? Which ones better? Has anything changed for '06? What about the FiFa WC title that they put out every WC. How good is that this year?
Any thoughts, opinions, suggestions....much appreciated.
