Why do people who claim to be Christians support war in retaliation for an attack when Jesus' favorite expression was "turn the other cheek"? Seems to me that these fundamentalist types (Christian and otherwise) make their religions way more complicated than they need to be...
Also, the "turning the other cheek" means that you don't retaliate, but your attacker is forced to strike with his palm (instead of the back of his hand), thus showing you respect, as a backhand slap would have been a great insult (perhaps on par with spitting in someone's face?).

This thread is funny. Obviously you have not read the bible.
Why are so many against the war? This war is NEEDED. We wernt at war 5 year's ago when they attacked us. When they did, If I remember correctly Democrat, Republic and every other party known to man were 100% for kicking some Terrorist Ass.
Now that the media has exploited differnet aspect's of war. Which has not been done in History for Obvious reasons. Everyone is all of a sudden pulling there tail between there leg's and hiding like a b*tch.
Btw... 9/11 was not the reason we went to war. Terrorism has been going on for a very long time. We went to war, because we were attacked, but we dont agree with leader's Genociding there people because they have differnt beliefes.
As harsh as it sounds... sometimes I think the world could do with the "Genociding" of people who make up words to support frankly odd world views.
It's funny because it has nothing to do with the topic. The thread starter asks why some people say Christian's promote war (for example... Crusaders, or Bush) when Jesus spoke about non-reistance and what people perceive as pacifism.
So really you chest beating cry of "to arms" is out of place, and irrelevant to boot!
So you saying 9/11 didn't start the war, but you went to war because you were attacked... so which is it?
And you must be referring to Iraq... the US doesn't like leaders "Genociding" their people... so why didn't you actually deal with him the first time round? Or while he was actually "Genociding"? And why make up all this garbage about WMDs? And...

You could see it as being cautions to not respond in kind, rather than not responding at all. We should be part of the solution, and not add to the problem. If a situation is caused by anger, more of the same won' t eliminate it.
