Ok so something similar to the Onslaught Saga or the Secret Wars happens again on Marvel Earth, and it causes every "A-List" Hero on Earth to disappear(but not the villains). With no more of Marvel's "big names" to draw from, you have to create a new Avengers team out of the 2nd and 3rd string heroes that remain to combat the villains who now feel like a bunch of kids in a candy store. Here are the stipulations...
1. None of Marvel's best. The team has to be made of characters who have never enjoyed the fame or notoriety of guys like Thor or Captain America. As a general rule of thumb, if a character was actually featured in any of the Infinity arcs(Gauntlet, War, Crusade) then he's ineligible. If they made a cameo or something like that it's fine, but if they actively participated in any of the major featured confrontations in the core books then you should look elsewhere. Also no Squirel Girl(since I know she didn't appear in any of those and is bound to come up).
2. The team must be made of Heroes or Anti Heroes with the capacity and inclination to work within a structured team environment.
3. The team must have between 7 and 9 members and a leader should be appointed.
4. It should be a balanced team with varying levels of power, tech, and both male and female members.
5. The team should have the ability to take down Marvel's remaining A-List Villains.

Hmm... I've decided to lift the part of the stipulation regarding the Infinity arcs because after giving it some thought even a lot of what would be considered B and C list heroes got involved in some way or another. So just use your best judgement regarding what constitutes a second stringer and we can deal with things on a case by case basis.
Me too, that's why I lifted the Infinity arc stipulation . I couldn't come up with a viable team either(at least one that could take down someone like Ultron or Dr. Doom).
Hmm... good question. Let's say that B-List means that they've...
1. Never had their own SUCCESSFUL solo series(though a mini series is ok).
2. Are never the "go to guy" in any team books their part of when the shit hits the fan.
3. Aren't considered to be an equal/counterpart to a mainstream hero. An inferior knock off's type is ok, but not someone like Beta Rayt Bill who's arguably just another version of Thor with equal power.
Would guys like Wonder Man or The Vision (somewhat big name Avengers, but still sort of B-list on the whole) count, or are they too high on the popularity scale?

Ok this is the best B Listers team I could come up with.
The Leader: Nova
The Brutes: Super Sabra, The Forgotten One,
The Powa: Pulsar, Genis
The Street Lvlers: Adam X,Domino
The Mental and Magicals: Tana Nile, Vengeance
