So I have had discussions with friends and family that I would like to open a bar one day. So far I have 0% progress towards this goal haha.
Anyway I thought I would see if anyone had experience in doing such or have worked in a bar before and wanted to share thier opinions...just graduated college but I don't think I can work for someone all my life and would rather attempt to get this goal off the ground within a couple of years.
In Texas I know they require some lincenses but thats about it. Not sure what would be the biggest expense in this industry or any other steps for that matter. Look forward to your thoughts or random comments to help pass the day at work...

Heres some great advice..., Save your money and spend it on moving to another country and obtaining a citizenship. Then Open up your dream Bar there. Bars are a dime a dozen and in this economy. It is no time to be starting a business, unless you have suddenly stumbled upon a windfall.

I'm just frackin with you, partner. I simply meant to imply, with my first post, that this may not be the best time to invest in starting a business. There seems to be much gloom on the economic and political horizon.
Either way, a genuine suggestion...,go classy. Don't go for the neighborhood dive. Invest in imported beer and find the right bartender. Quality product brings quality customers and you definitely will have to get a venue license so that you can hire bands and draw more people and always remember...,location location location
