1. Infinite Crisis (IMO the best crossover event of all time, i am hungover so i may have forgotten something).
2.Civil War (pretty entertaining on the whole, could have maybe done with an issue or two extra to flesh out the final battle, and the Spider man Iron man fight).
3. Final Crisis (pretty good on the whole, but didn't come close to upholding Grants very high standards. I've said it about 20 times, but the original World War three story, that ended Morisson's JLA arc is far superior in every way. Also too many ambiguities and plot holes through out, and unnecessary use of too "ultimate evils". Some really uber cool concepts thru out; internet distrubution of anti-life equation, batman shooting D.S. Every heroe in the multiverse descending upon Mandrakk, D.S. dragging Space-time into a relativity, singularity hell.)
4. Death of the New Gods; silly , standrad cosmic pre-Authority crap that takes the last 20 years of comic sophistication and throws up all over it. Why bother writing a comic that ignores all the vitues that Dark Knight Returns, Watchmen, Kingdome Come, Transmetroplolitan, Authority etc have given us ? Especially if its aimed at the more mature audience who grew up with Kirby's comics. I bet the King is turning in his grave over this tripe.
Haven't read the others, but heard a lot of good things about Annhilation.

Re: FC, IC, DOTNG vs. Civil War, Annihilation, Secret Invasion
Before you all kill me for having an opinion, all of these stories have many pros and cons. I cannot speak for Annihilation as I haven't bought it yet. I'm waiting for my store to lower the cost of the trades. 3 trades make up all of annihilation 1 at around £18 per trade? Rip off.
Final Crisis was dizzying but enjoyable. Widespread cast and widespread art. Major pro = JG Jones. Major con = Disjointed storytelling was unnecessary.
Infinite Crisis was epic, widespread, universe shattering events. Major pro = Art was gorgeous. Felt more epic than Final Crisis. Major Con= What was the long term effects? One dead B-List character? So what if Superman may have/may not have/blargh been seen before Metropolis?
DOTNG was awful. New God's have never been that interesting to me and so nothing in this series reached out or appealed to someone (like me) who thinks the New Gods are just meh. Major pro = Ok art. Major Con = boring series that didn't conclude unless you picked up a rubbish, inconsequential weekly comic.
As for Marvel...
Secret Invasion was pretty grand covering lots of titles and at first garnering lots of mystery. Art was an acquired taste. Major pro= Started with a bang. Who was a skrull was really fun to guess. Major con= May have hit the ground running but the plot treaded water for all the remaining issues until the deus ex machina that was the last issue. Skrulls felt like to much of gimmick to just elevate Osborn by the end.
So that leaves my favourite of this bunch. Civil War. Gorgeous art and fast paced plot. Fizzled out towards the end but contained more badass moments than I could put my finger on. Major pro = Did actually have several major long lasting changes to numerous Marvel titles (and created a few titles), major death, Really fun concept for a story and for the most part, actually lived up to it's own hype. Major cons = unnecessary cop character appearances (Thor/Clor and Captain Marvel) ending fizzled out slightly and Spidey's unmasking was diluted by One More Day (not really the fault of Civil War though)
So overall Civil War was my favourite, mainly because I could forgive most of it's problems, some of it's problems were turned to goldust (The Captain Marvel mini was brilliant) and it's major strengths were really shocking and had a massive impact. Eg. Registration is still an issue. A strong divide is still in the MU. Cap's death is still a major thing. The government is still a major issue. The Avengers are back to the status they were supposed to be, the JLA of the MU. That's not even mentioning major titles that sprung up like the initiative or Mighty Avengers or the introduction of the Illuminati or the major developments to Tony Stark's character.
I prefer the DC events - Civil War wasn't all that great IMO, Secret Invasion was okay, Annihilation was great, but SCW was better, Infinite Crisis was okay, Final Crisis and DOTNG were both pretty good
FC - lost the "evil winning" title to Secret Invasion, lost the comprehensibility title to everything, easily the most epic scope of all of them
IC - loathed it for some reason
DOTNG - enjoyed it, had an interesting somewhat complex and easy to follow story, better things have been written of course
Civil War - mightygodking made it awesome
Annihilation - great story, great characterization, great scope
Secret Invasion - evil manages to screw over the good guys in a royal way but the premise felt awfully contrived
