I expected more from him against mongul and how he did with mongul convinces me he had no business even getting in SBP's way
I understand that I was more pointing out that my opinion was formed by both those events mostly. I waited till further showings to make up my mind since he was fighting superboy prime. I was convinced he would put up a fight and then soundly be put down or taken out of the fight but the exploited weakness of lead made it worse.. Soo when the confrontation with mongul came I was hoping to see the true measure of his ability and that was a horrible disappointment. It validated my early opinion based off him taking the role of a roundabout means of just stalling SBP, that he was wasted potential.
Superman puts mongul down. Mongul with rings is alot more dangerous but a daxamite (=kryptonian) + Ion should of eventually wrecked him all himself. ion is all that was really needed.
What else does he have beyond that for combat sake?
Getting beat up by Mongul. He had Rings, but Yat had like 6 other Green Lanterns.
On one hand, Yat was on a team, and we all know whether it's a team of regular Green Lanterns or Guardians of OA, teams job. On the other hand, we have nothing else to judge Yat by.
I guess power doesn't make the man. You can give fodder all the power in the world, but fodder will almost always just be that.
Despite it being a team book it was his first real story as ion. If anything the green lanterns with him should of all gotten beaten up by Mongul with rings to inflate how much of a threat he really is for the set up of unleashing ion onto him. Have him fight like a daxamite where it's h2h and then eventually fight like Ion and tool him hard. Istead he was just a fodder lantern.
