Anyway, I think this thread meets the very definition of beyond salvaging and it is way pat 100 so I will close it.
I will take this opportunity to remind people that closing off-topic threads at 100 is no personal crusade of my own, it is me carrying out the general instructions on how the GDF is handled. it was going on here before I even showed up, let alone became a mod.
The purpose of this is that off-topic threads makie it very hard for people to 'navigate' the forum because the threads do not talk about what the title says; it is aggravating for many. We give some leeway but the general rule is that if it is past 100 posts and has stayed off-topic it is unlikely to become on-topic again so it is closed. New topics can ALWAYS be opened, either repeating old ones or continuing conversations that weere closed off with a more appropriate title. Or if you just want to generally chat with no topic, use the bar; that is what it is there for.
Finally, it is worth noting that about a year back the closing at 100 custom was suspended on a temporary basis. It proved VERY unpopular and the closing system was voted back into existence by the board members very fast.
Hence, I close topics, and hence this one closes too.
