It's Schutzstaffel...
And for the thread: Depends on which SS soldiers are used. The SS was basically some special police unit before the WWII started. Once the war started they became better military fighters but not all of them where fanatical shock troops.
But if you throw a unit of the most fanatical ones at anybody with same technology they would still kill them. The German military in times of the WWII was superior to anything else when it came to skill, ruthlessness and (if you take the SS) fanatical behaviour. Hitler basically forced anybody to participate in military / paramilitary training even from infant age on (Hitler Jugend - Hitler youth). Those people were indoctrinated and trained to kill people from their youth on and not think about it.
Indoctrination ? Really...does any western military train people to kill other people from childhood on ? Does any western military use ideology which tells all soldiers that they're superior to anybody else and have to fight for their right to dominate the World ? Does any western military train soldiers that will willfully get involved in a Genocide against defenseless people (sidenote: The German military and paramilitary organisations killed 6 million jews and about 25 million Russian people). Does any modern military do that ? If yes, then I don't want to visit the country that the military belongs to.
Germany in times of WWII and before that (basically from the point on that Hitler took it over in 1933) was an entire society working under the premise that there has to be a war to take over at least Europe if not the entire world and anything at this time (sports, everydays life, entertainment, military training and so on) was subordinated to this idea. And I don't think that any modern western country's military / society works like this.

Not from childhood on, but any basic training (continued throughout one's army carer makes constant referance towards love of the military, and in some units, love of killing.
To quote a cadence:
"What makes the grass grow?
BLOOD BLOOD BLOOD!
KILL KILL KILL!"
