the reason why vader needs the mask is pretty much the same reason why people with lung disease or that cant breath right need oxygen tanks, so when luke took it off he couldnt breath.....i knew that even the first time i watched ESB like when i was 5
an to answer your earlier question vader was in extreme pain and shock and was basically having surgery done on him while he was awake, let alone that he just got a new arm and two legs soething that takes longer than a minute to get used to, so the medic droids did it for him. and it RotJ he only has one arm and is in fact dying, he cant walk and can hardly breath with the mask on which means he was to weak to take it off so luke did

That's like asking can't use the force to perform every single menial task in life? He probably could, but what's the point if you've got machines to do it all for you?

Plus it gave the nice, and more important, intimate moment between father and son. Which was the real issue of that scene. Scenes should not be crafted on logic but on dramatic purposes: in other words hwat's the scene really saying.
Just make the illogical not too illogical that it gets annoying.
i prefer to have people do logical things (under the circumstances that is) like if somebody is using a horse as cover during a gunfight, shoot the horse and it'll fall on top of the person
