Funny that both companies attribute the developments to the changing mindset of readers. I like the part in the OP link where DC compares Didio's 'evolving mindset' to Obama's.
I love Batwoman comics. It might be because of all the complications and being a lesbian that enticed me.
Been following the new "Supergirl" comic, its very slow pace compared to "Superman" and she has not adapted to Earth culture, but she made a friend with an Irish girl who is being chase by her father (ancestory of the Banshee).
Banshee was a old emeny of Super family and maybe that reign is over. Hopefully the announcement a gay couple, might be Banshee and Super Girl. This way Supergirl has someone to reply on regarding Earth and she an alien, XD
I'm hoping that the use of 'he' is a fakeout and it Wonder Woman. Because people have been waiting for DC to come out and say that Wondie has teh sex with wimens for a while.
But I guess they already have a 'prominent' lesbian character in Batwoman.
For the men, my bets on Cyborg. From what I've heard, it can't be Aquaman because he's married, and Batman had sex with Catwoman so they're still a thing. Superman's still going after Lois. And Hal and Flash are both in relationships. Correct me if I'm wrong though.
Also that idiot group One Million Moms has complained about this, shocker.

But is it definitely a superhero/villain? Don't they just say prominent? Maybe Jimmy... or Lois - take that Superman!
Really though, it sounds like a terrible idea. Like Didio gave up trying to make a new gay character compelling and decided to go the easy way out. And IMO that recent Northstar stuff has just been horrible, unreadable, like some sort of bad cliched joke - they have got to do better than that.
Gender: Male Location: Stuck In the future where Akus evil
I wanna know what they will do to make this character gay? I mean since they are making an already existing character openly gay how will they establish it? change the way they dress? that would feel forced to me. Make them walk and talk more stereotypical? That would also be dumb because not all homosexuals are like that. Maybe they would give them a boyfriend/girlfriend? That would also be stupid because they would obviously be doing it to make it known the character is gay and it would be kinda lame having someone pop up out of no where. I feel they will announce them being homosexual and then maybe make a couple small references in the books but not change the character at all. That imo would be dumb because it would show that DC was only doing it to "grab" that demographic and they don't actually care.........but then again if they actually cared they would have made and developed a new character.
DC has done gay before - Obsidian, the two girls from Outsiders (Grace and Thunder), etc.
I don't see the need to re-create a character. Just push a new character, but don't make being gay their main focus. I think it should just be a fact about them - something that gets focused on constantly, but never so much in the spotlight that it defines them.
