Christopher Cesari essentially confirmed that games and ROGs are foggier events and thus not as valid versions as the novels. Though that is essentially a moot point, we have Legends, SWTOR, and Canon now.
Even so games have never come out on top of novels in terms of authenticity concerning interpretations.
Leland Chee is a Story Group member so he has as much power as anyone.

You are misinterpreting an irrelevant rule concerning contradictory sources, in which the latest version of any one event depicted in an equal to or greater canon source was the valid one. The Novelisation however holds higher validity than the game's cutscenes in the first place so your rule sourcing is moot.
