I was actually kind of unimpressed by the whole thing, tbh. Meltzer was good I thought, as slow as he might have seemed. The less said about McDuffie's arc (which i did read), the better. Robinson's was touch and go for me (though admittedly I didn't read all of it), and the massive roster change really put me off.

So no, in short, I wasn't a huge fan. Maybe I'm in the minority, I dunno.

Yeah, I understand what you're saying about the 'inconsistent' rosters/storylines. Makes sense.

Personally I enjoyed it on average- that is to say, it was one of the few titles I looked forward to each month from DC.

I really liked Meltzer's run, but after that, I'd let myself hope it was going to get better every month, only to end up disappointed bar the odd one-off issue. Even Ed Benes just didn't seem up for it after a while. And some of the characterisation was horrible at times, I thought.

Still not sure if Johns is gonna do this right or use it as a Hal and Barry vehicle.

C'mon, man. You've been around long enough to know that one way or another, that's EXACTLY what John's is going to do.

This is exactly what I meant about getting my hopes up...

^ Hehe.

A good 'for instance' of what Johns' has warped one of his favorite characters into can be seen just by looking at Professor Zoom. He started as a fairly minor Flash rogue, but has since been transmuted by Johns into an almost abstractual negative speed force entity/time anomaly, of whom will be responsible for retconning all of DC into "The New 52".

Christ.

Is it any wonder I didn't read all of that mini...

I still give Johns props as i really like how he writes Hal most of the time, but outside of that...
