If you were trying really hard to stick to the book, you would also attempt equally as hard to sternly acknowledge the Hulk's (Banner's) powerset in the days that WW Hulk was written. You would understand that the Hulk has more gears than any proprietary strong guy out there. This includes the Doomsday's, and any other brick character out there, and yes this includes the Mangog in the amount of weight that they can potentially shift.
It's just how he was written. There are many that will continue to challenge what has been written, and they will continue to miss the point. The Hulk has always been written to have infinite strength potential. What you see when he gets his butt kicked really happened, but in another instance, one that he just goes full teeter, due completely to situational conditions (someplace with no life worth saving) VS billions of innocents... you see where I'm going with this? This is Banner not Lobo (who happens to be chaotically evil). We are forced to keep it in character.
Do I believe that Thor can beat the Hulk? Of course he can, let's not be silly. I feel the same way about Thor taking Betty's place in the Dark Dimension, but not having been touched by the waters of the Wishing Well. Not being able to see the Hulk defeating Thor, or any of Thor's elite peers would be equally silly in my opinion.
The Hulk is a hero. He would fight against a universal mass murderer than join in on the killing. He has had bad times but those were due to loss of intellect.
Thor tricked Nul. Nul is not Banner, how can you even be sure that Nul was able to tap into the bodies dynamic strength potential with the same efficiency that Banner had developed during his stay on Sakaar?
You see man, you obviously have knowledge and see certain things with clarity, this can't be denied, but you've left out things or may not have seen certain factual angles. That type of thing won't work, and often is the cause of people perceiving a low ball.

Like i said before the narration flat out states the hammers ampped the strength on the worth on top of the fact the vampire nation study the hulk and also stated the hulk was ampped.
