by misleading the people and making them believe that saddam had ties to al quaida, by lying about WMD's....LYING. i said this before. why do you ask me to repeat myself? unless you feel that bush should not be held responsible for his own lies?
no they didnt want war. wtf country do you live in?
do you pay attention to the news? did you back then?
he said that saddam was a direct threat to the u.s. [LIE]
said they were smuggling enriched uranium from africa to use on us[LIE]
said that saddam had direct ties to those who attacked us on 9/11 [LIE]
said that saddam posessed other WMD's [LIE]
he worked our country into a panic with lies lies LIES and that is how he sold the war. and you're ok with that
Well technically Bush could have sent troops over to Iraq whether congress approved the "war" or not. Being the Head of the Executive Branch and Commander and Chief of the United States Armed Forces, the President has the ability to send troops anywhere he wants too.. whenever he wants too.
It's still up to congress to "officially" declare "war" in a legal/financial sense..but just because congress doesn't declare it or provide all the legal/financial backing, it doesn't mean that a "war" isn't going on. And based on what I know about Bush, he would have sent Troops over to Iraq anyway..WITHOUT Congress's approval.
I don't believe that Bush purposely tried to mislead the people. You have to consider that he doesn't have one of the most analytical, detail oriented minds, and he bases many of his choices on his personal beliefs/circumstances, rather than the facts presented before him.
Anyway..as many have pointed out..the American people were mislead(this includes Congress) about the reasons as to why we went to war. The original "FACTS" behind the US going to war stated by the BUSH administration were all based on erroneous information, thus the war was essentially started under false pretenses.
As far as the bomb incident goes, I have to say that I'm quite glad no one was hurt during the whole situation. The president represents the American people, and any action against him reflects how the rest of the world feels about the US. Regardless of my personal beliefs about his ideologies and policies, I'm glad nothing came of the incident. For all we know, if anything did happen to our President..that would have been the beginning of World War III...
