Hal/Parallax wanted to destroy the existing universe and replace it with a new universe cast in his own image- one that he ultimately had total control over... And he was willing to (and did) kill anyone/thing that got in his way.
On the other hand, Barry's 'motives' for running back in time, and subsequently meeting up with the Strange Woman/merging the timelines, were completely opposite (plus he didn't murder mass amounts of innocents in the process.) That is why Parallax was viewed as a murderer/villain (rightfully so), and Barry was not. Imo.

Well I guess you have a point there, Barry never sunk to the depths Hal did. I mean, I didn't mean to suggest Barry was an outright villain, it's just that his actions weren't exactly heroic, or at least, they weren't very responsible. It just seems to mirror Hal's start as Parallax- wanted to rebuild Coast City so decided to take the CPB...
Here we have a transformed Andrew (a Vampire/Vampire slayer) conversing with the, also transformed, Mary. Who else do we see on that very page? The mysterious Strange Woman (top panel, left hand side.)
So needless to say, the Strange Woman's identity has yet to be revealed.
"The Daemon lied with every breath. It could not help itself but to deceive and dismay, to riddle and ruin. The more we conversed, the closer I drew to one singularly ineluctable fact: I would gain no wisdom here."
