She smacked him with a thrown coffin. And that was without her spending over a century learning to draw on the talisman, which increased her power considerably.

Morne's force abilities should simply overpower him, TPM Maul isn't particularly great in defensive Force applications. Any one who read Shadow Hunter can tell you that.

Have to say, after not having read that in a long time, that was a nice looong fight. We don't usually get fights that long in SW Comics, and I've been especially disappointed in SOD giving us fights of 1 or 2 panels each. Since it was supposed to be animation, showing the fights move by move like the above would have been ideal, and make me much more forgiving for the fact that they didn't make the final season episodes.
Having said that I really don't see how any of that can be canon (even in Legends) now that Maul was never "killed" by Kenobi. (Unless of course Kenobi pops up in the final issue of SOD and kills him).
In any case even in that comic the Acolytes state that Vader and Maul were completely evenly matched. Maul only began winning when his Saber staff became 2 Sabers (which in it self was PIS that Vader hit the Saber staff in just the right place to do that). And even then Vader still won himself (also through PIS). But remember Vader grew more powerful after this anyway.
It was written right after TPM came out. And there was no Count Dooku yet, so Maul and Vader were the only 2 big apprentices of Sidious. And everyone was talking about who would win a fight between them.
So obviously a Maul vs Vader comic was going to sell. And they predictably showed them both as being overall equals - Maul being faster and more acrobatic, with Vader being more experienced and physically more durable- but overall "complete eqauls."
Its was a Great Versus comic but difficult to view as completely canon today, and not a great source to compare OT Vader and TPM Maul to each other IMHO.
Vader get ass kicked there against featless jedis though if not for clone troopers he was going to die, and he get many low showings in terms of speed after that period.

8 Jedi, 6 of them masters, including Bultar Swan, and only 3 created for that story, the majority had previous feats, like Ma'kis'shaalas, who won a fight against Tsyr, a Morgukai warrior who in turn once beat Master Tholme.
6 Masters + 2 knights is very impressive even if they were complete unknowns, and this lot wasn't!
And that's not the only time. There was, iirc, a case not long after he got his armor that he took down four quite handily.
Plus facing plenty of strong individuals like An'ya Kuro, Galen Marek, and yadda yadda.
