Yes he is in trouble that famous Orca Willy or Keiko as he is renamed.
He bewildered himself into a Norwegian fjord and he is still too tame to really manaage on his own. He has been fed by people and that wont help him a bit. A norwegian whale researcher/scientist said either they have to recapture him or kill him or else he might suffer a painfull death at sea. Enviromentalist saw red when they heard what the researcher said. Guess that whale aint to intelligent after all ending up in a fjord of a country that still hunts whales. They do not hunt Orcas here though so I guess he is safe for now, but they need to leave him alone or he will never be able to manage free life after 20 years in captivity.
you know, the purpose of a zoo is to breed endangered species, so they don't get extinct! Lots and lots of animals have been saved that way, going from "mere" fish to bengalese tigers etc.
they do try to release some of those animals back in the wild, most of them have succes, only a few don't make it in the wild
I'm not talking about ALL zoos, like Olmen for example, but look at the one in Antwerpen and Planckendael! They have breadingprograms for quite a few animals in order to save them!
It's actually quite recent that zoos started with it, though
the zoos are PART of animal extinction...course there are soem that try ro rebalance the species number but...not a lot. We caused the trouble in the first place
