The (Real) Cost of Love
Love isn't easy KMC'ers and it sure isn't free. A 50-year marriage will run you a cool $590,400, not counting courtship, children, medical, housing, daily food, her transportation, clothing and cosmetics costs or inflation Make it count.
This list is broken down into 3 subjects:
What you'll give her--What it costs in a year--What it costs over 50years
Flowers
$300 - $15,000
Greeting Cards
$21 - $1,050
Dinners out
$2,526 - $126,300
Expensive dinners to apologize
$700 - $35,000
Theater, concert, movies
$752 - $37,600
Vacations
$2,913 - $145,650
Jewelry
$1,336 - $66,800
Lingerie
$122 - $6,100
Trips to the spa
$275 - $13,750
Haircuts, grooming products for you
$1,000 - $50,000
Vasectomy after kids are born
$1,000 - $1,000
Caring for the dog she loves so much
$1,226 - $63,300
Valentine's Day
$86 - $4,300
Mother's Day
$70 - $3,500
Holiday, anniversary, birthday gifts
$421 - $21,050
Total Cost
$12,788 - $590,400
Is she worth every penny? And less than half of that, on behalf of women, is spent on men over the same 50 years.
That's why the marriage thing with me is (sigh)....i dunno. Marriage is unnatural, 1st of all but some people can hack it.

Not a chance in hell anyone spends $1,050 on greeting cards. Especially not a married couple.

You would quadruple those amounts if your girl was Anna Nicole Smith. Except for one category, which should be changed to "Caring for the Dog who used to be a Playboy centerfold."

$1,050 over 50 years. You don't see that as a possibility? Think about all. Tally up every special occasion Hallmark card up, and you'd be around that number in 50 yrs

The better question is, is how many (new) dogs can she get in 50 yrs?

Though the odds that someone's expenditures sum up to ALL these amounts is astronomical, I can definitely see the greeting card total of $21/year when considering the Christmas/Holiday card factor.

Astronomical? Your exaggerating. I could easily see and believe this much being spent, throughout a marriage, on a woman

Come on, man, I fought your Greeting Card battle for you, you could at least cut me some slack here.
I'm talking about people who see this study and scrutinize every single expenditure that doesn't fall within a nickel of what they spent. Like if I trashed the survey because I only spent $100 on vacations last year. (which I did )

I will be honest. The vacation was to an NFL game in Charlotte. My friend had free tickets, so I spent $100 on beer. And my wife didn't even go. But I'm still a prized catch in the Sugar Daddy department.

Are you really married, botankus and if so, do you find yourself spending money on your wife alot? Or unreasonably?
