The reason Bond is dated is because of movies like Quantum of Solace, DAD, Casino Royale basically too much of the same.
Her majesty's secret service by Lazenby was one of the best Bond films. It was truer to Flemming's image of Bond than the Moore and even the Connery Movies.
But meh! For some reason CR was hailed as a good Bond film what I saw was more of the same minus the gadgets and a less humane portrayal. CR and QS have a Bond without the heart of a Lazenby; cool charm of Connery and the quirky entertainment of Moore.
Worst: all the Bond movies post World is Not Enough. Moore at least was fun to watch.

I agree with your points about MoonRaker.I dont think its near as horrible as some people are making it out to be.Those moments you mentioned I thought made it very interesting.Plus how can anyone not love that boat chase scene. If you pay close attention, you'll notice that they brought back the classic Bond music from Thunderball during that boat chase scene.
Sure it was corny at times but I would say A View To A Kill was 10 times worse than MoonRaker. The thought of Bond bedding that disgusting looking thing Grace Jones just makes me barth. Then theres the horrible acting of Tonya Roberts as the bond girl.bleeh. At least Moonraker, the bind girl could act and was far prettier than Grace Jones.
You say "Her majesty's secret service by Lazenby was one of the best Bond films. It was truer to Flemming's image of Bond" but then your not happy with the more newer movies because of no gadgets, Have you even read the books ?
Its not all about gadgets in the books its him doing his mission that he gets assigned to do
Thats not to say i don't like the movies because they're not 100% accurete to the books they're still good and each actor that played the role all did one or two bond bad movies.

I love all the Connery versions,Roger Moore was ok,some of them unbelievable, but then the later versions with Brosnan was really over the top,my worst are...
Die Another Day
The World is not Enough
I never cared about the gadgets maybe when I was about 10 years back in 96 I might have cared about gadgets. The issue is the Bond movies aren't adapting to newer forms of film making.
Even when the Bond movies were treated in a more light hearted spin in the Moore era they were at least fun. I was never the biggest fun of Moore but there was something about his irreverant nature that made at least appreciate most of his films.
The new Bond is more serious (a good thing) but his actions and the consequences of his actions need to have more of a long lasting and visible impact. The movies are still too unrestrained for the spy genre.
Oddly enough In Her Majesty's Secret Service captured both the best of the irreverant film Bond, and also the seriousness and sense of long lasting consequence of a good spy film.

You are so right. I was delighted when GoldenEye came out as I thought Brosnan was well cast but sadly they just did not give him the material he deserved.
Can't decide between Die Another Day and A View To A Kill. The World Is Not Enough gets an honourable mention too.

yeah that was his worst outing as Bond.Horrible script and horrible casting.I know people dont agree with me on this but Halle Berry is an ugly looking dog.Wish they had cast HER as the villian and the white girl and Berrys role.would love to have seen Berry die.
