Maybe they think that the way people think in LA and NYC are the way people think everywhere in the country. Oh what an awful place this would be were that true.

They are all ready getting their way. That is why pretty much every major metropolitan city in the U.S is quickly devolving into Blue Voting Shit Pits.

Lol California is trying to pass a thing to make Trump reveal his taxes if he wants to run in 2020. Funny thing, and strange I didn't know this until now, but the guv'nah of California has been the first in 30 or so odd years to not release their tax returns. Weird. They can't even practice what they preach, oh California.

No doubt though there have been petitions and protests in Cali in order to get the governor to release his. Many a folk whining, guaranteed. It would have to be, for them to be taken remotely seriously.

I get this feeling if I google it though....nah, I'm not gonna, cuz they surely made a big fuss about it, I don't need proof.

The thing is, people are so jaded to the Democratic parties scare mongering tactics, they just don't care anymore.

Once a poor, black, jewish convert realises all the people prospering in the party don't look like him, but instead look suspiciously like the bigots they're supposed to be voting against in the Republican party, they just give up voting.

Even if it's all a lie on both sides, at least the Republicans are motivating their base with more then "Here's why the decks stacked against you. Now vote for me as I sip cocktails in my summer home.."

It's why I wish they valued diversity of thought much more than diversity of appearance.

You don't think that Obama ever stepped to the right? Or George Bush to the left? This is what I'm saying... you guys are doubling down on your own radical ideology, just like the radical leftists. This kind of game doesn't end well.

Depends on whether you believe he was talking about working across party lines, or keeping yourself free to flipflop to further your career.

Of course, there's nothing whatsoever wrong with compromise.. I'd argue we need compromise to get anything done.

That said, a person who sees politics as a means to further their career is not someone I'll respect as much as a person who sees the system as a means of expressing their core beliefs.

A used car salesman may believe in his heart they're selling you a junker, even as they argue it's a luxury car.. You hope our politics aren't so cynical.

That is not what I'm saying at all. Rather, I think Schumer just wouldn't have been able(or willing) to give examples.

But okay since you brought it up, when did Obama step to the right?

Which is purely political. He doesn't want to be quoted saying a right-wing policy is better than a left wing policy, etc. That doesn't make his advice unsound.

Well, you could look at how he watered down obamacare and got rid of the public option to make it pass. When it came time to negotiate taxes/entitlements, he never proposed any seriously radically progressive tax plan. He kept the war on terror going pretty much along the same trajectory as the Bush administration. He increased the number of drone strikes pretty substantially, etc.

Honestly, other than Obamacare, I have a really hard time imagining how life was different under Obama than it was under Bush.

Tbh that sounds way more idealistic than how I look at Washington. Ideologues are pretty much useless in American Politics. Look at Ron Paul, Bernie Sanders, etc.

It might be political, but I also think the answer would speak volumes about the character of a person.

Everything is political these days.

To be fair at least they have some integrity. They gave the politics a rest during natural disasters like hurricanes. As a decent person with a soul would do.

I mean, you always hear that story from WW1 about how both sides called a truce on Christmas? Or Christmas Eve? Or something. So if that could happen, surely people could cease the mouth running during a deadly natural disaster in our much more enlightened era.

Meh. That only lasts about 5 minutes.

And that WW1 Truce is easier to see happening.. I mean those guys were just soldiers. Not Politicians. Soldiers work towards ENDING their Conflicts.

Yeah but the horrors they saw...if they could set it aside for a night surely some pampered MSM anchors could do so.

Lol, I couldn't even type that with a straight face.
