Because those books are shit and the author was mogged in his own setting by a bunch of writers who never created anything important before in a video game.
Never read them but if the massively popular Drizzt series is any indication of fantasy tabletop d&d nerd tastes, they probably really are shite.

That may be true. I never even finished season 1 and didn't think it was very good back then, though I liked Cavill well enough as Geralt and the fight scenes were pretty cool.
Well, we already got a taste of what it'll be like once he's gone with that abomination of a prequel thing they made a while back. I couldn't even make it through a single episode before I gave up on it.
