Peter Jackson Responds To New Line Blacklist

Lord of the Rings director Peter Jackson released a statement saying that he found "regrettable" comments made by New Line Cinema chief Robert Shaye to SCI FI Wire that Jackson would never work for the studio again under his watch.

"Our issue with New Line Cinema has only ever been about their refusal to account for financial anomalies that surfaced from a partial audit of The Fellowship of the Ring. Contrary to recent comments made by Bob Shaye, we attempted to discuss the issues raised by the Fellowship audit with New Line for over a year, but the studio was and continues to be completely uncooperative. This has compelled us to file a lawsuit to pursue our contractual rights under the law. Nobody likes taking legal action, but the studio left us with no alternative."

The Hobbits is a crappy book to begin with and to have anyone other than Peter Jackson making the movie would produce an even crappier film.

Jackson is a good director, and The Hobbit should be under his watch. However, I don't think that it will suck just simply because it won't be a Peter Jackson film.

It might not suck. They just need to find someone who enjoys the books as much as he dose. The reason the movies were so good is because Peter loved the books so much. Anybody who has sen his other movies noes a director like Jackson sees things diffrently.So there is still hope.

With such passion, energy, sweat and blood poured out by Peter Jackson & his majestic Weta for the most magnificent trilogy of all time, I just can't comprehand just how can anyone else fill in the shoes of the original "hobbit". Robert Shaye should go to his corner and think of the consequences of his despicable action toward Peter if he doesn't bury the hatchet and feel...that he is responsible for the upcoming movie flop "The Hobbit" because he did not do justice to its writer Mr Tolkien & Peter for appointing someone else other than the very creators who made the trilogy to this prequel a success...use logic...how can a sweet mouth-watering dish be made with animal dropping?

What are they thinking. Peter is the man. He helped make the lord of the rings trilogy and they want to act stupid like this. well i say to hell with them then pete. Go make another good movie just to show then what they missed out on.

Peter Jackson's vision of the LOTR series is excellent, and I don't think any other could top it.

I think that the LOTR movies were fantastic, i do not believe that anyone else than Peter Jackson could make the Tolkien universe come to life again in a "hobbit" film. as Peter has made the LOTR-movies and HE has visualised the Tolkien universe and no one else could visualise it in the same way... therefor i think that a Hobbit film (not made by PETER) would not be credible to the audince... Come on New Line let it be made by good old Pete!

While I think that Jackson should make The Hobbit, I think that there are many other directors that could make the movie successful. Hopefully this situation will be resolved but, either way, I think that The Hobbit will be a reat addition to the 3 existing LOTR movies.

Only Peter Jackson can do the hobbit. I should know, my family love LOTR i mean my middle name is Eowyn. NO, its definately Jackson.

Peter Jackson gave me a vision of Middle Earth that was all and more that I got from many (and I mean many) readings of the Tolkein Trilogy......he has to do The Hobbit.

Peter Jackson "has the runs on the board" (as we say in the civilised world) to show he can come up with the goods.Properly directed, the would be a killer of a film, completing the Ring cycle. And it wouldn't necessarily be a film for anklebiters-the book is surprisingly violent.
