Synopsis: Jack is already juggling the demands of a high pressure job and a new house, with a baby on the way. Now Jack's capable and unflappable partner has gone and he must face bringing up his daughter alone. He fends off his well-meaning family's attempts to take over, resists advice to employ a "no-nonsense" nanny who would never fit in with his relaxed lifestyle, and employs a young American waitress, Amy, to look after Sarah. Amy has her own problems to deal with, not to mention being unqualified and completely inexperienced, but she perseveres and weathers the disapproval of Jack's mother, and the objections of William, an up-market tramp whom Jack has welcomed into his home. Sarah grows to love Amy and everything seems to be running smoothly. It is only when Jack realizes that Amy resents the relationship developing between him and Anna, the managing partner at his law firm, that Jack begins to think of Amy as more than just Sarah's nanny....
