Synopsis: Based on V.S. Naipaul's first novel, the film is set during the mid-1950s in the author's native Trinidad, where black, white and Indian people make up the multicultural melting pot of the island. Rooted primarily in the Indian community, a failed school teacher turned masseur turned very unlikely political activist finds out what it's like to finally believe in himself.
