The first thing I said before this move srtetad, was "get ready to hate the human race" and I wasn't proven wrong. As with these types of movies, POA, shows how humans think they are superior to every other race/species, until proven otherwise.Anyone familiar with this franchise (you don't have to be , to enjoy this movie) knows whats gonna happen , but it doesn't stop you from liking this story. The special effects are REALLY well done as most times, I couldn't tell and sometimes forgot, that I was looking at CGI apes. Andy Serkis knocks it out of the park as Cesar, the ape who srtetad it all. Andy also did the 'movements' for Gollum/Smeagle and King Kong, and once again he connects us with the characters and make us root for them. Pacing was smooth, Story was solid and I look forward to part 2 (let the credits roll). The down side: Sorry to say , but it was the HUMAN actors who really dropped the ball. James Franco is fun to watch in most films, but he just doesn't have what it takes, to make us sympathetic towards his character and his goals. I don't know if the rolls were poorly written , but the human actors (with the exception of John Lithgow as James' Father) were two dimensional and came across as selfish and cowardly. The crowd i saw this with, were rooting for the apes the entire movie.I would definitely recommend this as a movie to watch. It's not for everyone but it was by no means a bad movie. 4 out of 5.
