Synopsis: An account that traces the conflict between the anti-gay policies of the Boy Scouts of America (BSA) and the broad-based movement by many of its members to overturn them. The story is told predominantly through the experiences of 13-year-old Steven Cozza (now 15) and 69-year-old Dave Rice (now 71) both heterosexual, both dedicated to the Scouts, and both determined to change the course of Scouting history. Along the way, they meet gay Scouts and Scoutmasters whose painful stories of expulsion earned national attention, including James Dale, whose case against the BSA reached the United States Supreme Court. Also featured is Tim Curran, a gay Eagle Scout who waged a 17-year-old battle against the BSA in California. The chronicle portrays gay and straight people working together to end anti-gay prejudice, turning the Boy Scouts of American on its ear.
