No Role For William Shatner In 'Star Trek 11'

Original Star Trek star William Shatner said in a video interview on his ShatnerVision Web site that co-star Leonard Nimoy may be in J.J. Abrams' upcoming Star Trek movie—but that Shatner won't be.

"There's a Star Trek movie, and I called Leonard," Shatner said in the video. "I said, 'Leonard, have you heard?' He said, 'Yes, I have.' I said, 'What do you mean?' He said, 'I've read the script.' I said, 'Is it a good script?' He says, 'Yeah.' I said, 'Am I in it?' And there was a pause. He said no, and then he began to laugh. I went through the phone as I grabbed him by the throat. He's in it. I'm not in it."

What??? No Shatner as Kirk??? Are you nuts, JJ? You cant have a scene with Leonard Nimoy as Spock without William Shatner as Kirk. What are you thinking? It should be both or neither. I would argue for McCoy, but Mr. Kelley died some time ago.

give the shatner love a rest, shatner is in his 80's. i once saw an in living color with jim carrey and the cast as geritol enterprise crew members with walkers. a good reboot is a good idea, the new trailer looks great. My dependation is how good is the music and story, because all great star treks (II,III, 4, contact) had great similar music. Music is an essential part of a character to a franchise, its why the bond films all started to suck after moore as the great bond music was filtered out. All trek shows involving time travel have been great
so i hope this bucks the odd number terrible movies (although i think III was good).
If its all new music then i am going to cringe and grab my barfbag most likely. digital younger shatner maybe, old 80s shatner, naw. nimoy is more realistic as an old spock.
