Shipping News Director Takes On 'Casanova'

Filmmaker Lasse Hallstrom ("The Shipping News") is set to direct "Casanova," reports Variety.

The period tale of the famed Lothario who learns the meaning of love when he finds a woman immune to his charms.

The Disney project was originally scripted by Kimberly Simi, and Hallstrom enlisted on the project based on a redraft by Michael Cristofer. Hallstrom will supervise another pass at the script before going out to cast for a 2003 production start.
