The Cat In The Hat

Mike Myers will star in the film version of The Cat In The Hat, reports EW.

He has taken over the role after Tim Allen dropped out to make Santa Clause 2.

The movie is based on the character created by Dr Seuss, whose writing also inspired the film The Grinch.

Producer Brian Grazer: "I think of him like Bluto, the character John Belushi played in Animal House.

"He took the characters on a ride more intense than anyone expected, and that's what the Cat does."
