Universal and Imagine are negotiating with Alec Baldwin and Peri Gilpin ("Frasier") to join the adaptation of the Dr. Seuss classic "The Cat in the Hat," reports

Baldwin will play the role of Alex Kulchak, the nosy neighbor who tries to figure out what's happening when two kids left home alone are visited by the mischievous stovetop-hatted cat played by Mike Myers.
